The Anthony Joshua tragedy is very exemplary of Black Death spectacle and how especially in Nigeria, violence is highly sensationalized thru our devices. I wrote a paper about the corpses that litter our internet. How it isn’t easy to find dead bodies even when you aren’t looking for it on Nigerian social media. The fact that people recorded the corpses in the accident and even AJ, the surviver who can barely process what is even happening, is just so so sad to me. For all the news headlines to be screenshots of his agony is very very gross n obscene. I feel so much grief about this. It’s deeper than this one incident.

it's not enough to be passively non-racist. whether you're chasing people off here yourself or choosing to ignore "discourse" (meaning the rights of black people to basic respect), the end result is a big whites-only sign outside your little clubhouse. when the tide is pulling toward bigotry, refusing to swim against it just means you'll be carried along too. passivity is acceptance. get mad, get loud, don't value the comfort of the oppressor over the dignity of the oppressed.
