In order to believe the accuser was telling the truth, the following facts - all detailed by DA Frank Sedita in interviews (WIVB and WGRZ) or in the official statement - must be ignored or discounted:

None of Kane’s DNA was found below the accuser’s waist: no semen, no hairs, no skin cells, no blood, no saliva. Nothing.

None of the accuser’s DNA was found in Kane’s bed, where she alleged the rape occurred: no hairs, no skin cells, no blood, no saliva. Nothing.

The physical evidence did not support the accuser’s claim of forcible penetration on Kane’s bed.

The details of the furnishings and the ‘choreography’ of the rape as the accuser described are incompatible with Kane’s bedroom and the physical evidence collected there.

Multiple independent witnesses at the bar contradicted the accuser’s story.

The accuser’s friend did not hear the accuser thrashing and screaming as the accuser alleged, despite being in a nearby room.

The accuser’s friend’s story contradicted the accuser on several material points.

The accuser’s friend was pressured to change her story.

The accuser’s mother kept an ‘evidence bag’ from the rape kit for seven weeks before alleging it appeared on her doorstep and lied about it to the accuser’s own attorney.

Furthermore, in order to believe Kane is guilty, you would have to believe the following are true:

There was no Kane DNA - including hair and skin cells - in or around the accuser’s genitals or underwear so the DNA was not properly collected by the SANE nurse and/or the analysis of the DNA by the crime lab was faulty, despite the fact that the collection and analysis found the DNA of at least two other men.

There was none of the accuser’s DNA in Kane’s bed so the DNA tests were not sensitive/accurate enough to pick up her DNA, even though the tests identified both Kane and another woman’s DNA in Kane’s bed.

Eyewitnesses who contradicted the accuser’s version of events all lied, and/or they vastly misinterpreted the situation.

The accuser’s friend is lying and/or was intimidated by Kane and others.

Others in the home (the accuser’s friend and Kane’s friend) who did not hear the accuser screaming despite being ‘nearby,’ are lying.

Or you can believe the entire investigation was a conspiracy perpetrated by the police detectives, the DA investigators, the lead SVU DA, Sedita, the hospital SANE nurse, all the labs, and Kane’s camp, and included witness intimidation, falsifying DNA results, and covering up/manipulating physical evidence.

The first time someone told me about Complex numbers, i found it extremely hard to interpret it’s physical meaning. In this post, I wish to present to you an analogy to get a sense of what Complex Numbers actually mean. 

Addition in 2- Dimensions.

We all know how to add in 1-Dimension. 3+2 =5, 15+2= 17. But let’s review anyway. Let say you want to add 3+1, you go to the number line and start at 0. First you move 3 units and then you move another one. The number you are at renders you the answer.

What does the “i” signify?

Complex numbers are written in the form z= a+ib. The “i” in a complex number is an Instruction! An instruction to turn 90 degrees in the counterclockwise direction. 

What is a+ib trying to tell you?

a+ib is trying to tell you to move ‘a’ units in the x- direction. The “i” is telling you to turn counterclockwise 90 degrees and move ‘b’ units in that direction ( This direction is called as the Imaginary axis). You reach the point X.

The point X of course, as Pythagoras found out is at a distance of  

from the origin and is inclined at an angle ( wrt to the x- axis ).

Cementing your understanding.

1+0i - Move 1 unit in the x-direction.

0+1i- Turn 90-degrees anti-clockwise and move 1 unit in that direction.

-1+0i - Move 1 unit in the negative x- direction.

0-1i- Turn 90 degrees anti-clockwise and move 1 unit in the opposite direction.

This is what I love to call as “ Addition in Two Dimensions “ because it is the same ordinary addition of two numbers that we all are familiar with. But instead of confining yourself with only one dimension, we perform the operation in two dimensions.

Final Thoughts.

There are an increasing number of people who refuse to study complex numbers without realizing how simple it is. Maybe they shouldn’t have called it COMPLEX numbers!
