drivers can make one small mistake and then have no idea how the ai will take that into account and change the energy deployment for their next lap. how are they supposed to fix mistakes if the algorithm is changing things unpredictably?

the thing is i do think mclaren is unequivocally Lando's Team and they love lando and he's their favourite and occasionally they do prioritise him. but i also think mclaren are capable of such stunning incompetence that sometimes they can't even give their favourite a good race

wasn't going to elaborate because this is just brain vomit and rubbing salt in my 2025 wounds but. when lando is subjected to bad strategy it's almost always because the pitwall is useless. when oscar is subjected to bad strategy it's 50% of the time because the pitwall is useless and 50% of the time because they're trying to not disadvantage lando. i really think back to the likes of qatar 2025 ie. not pitting oscar under VSC as lando would suffer for it and costing oscar the win. it was a dumb choice for both parties in the end tbh. but especially for oscar and of course we have to wonder if that decision would've been made at all if lando was leading

i think both drivers suffer from the pitwall having their heads up their asses but it's usually oscar who's subjected to decisions which deprioritise his race over lando's. and let's not pretend it's NEVER been the other way around because there's a hungarian elephant in the room which they lord over oscar to this day. but it is disproportionately in lando's favour. Equally you could argue the idea that team orders/"papaya rules" could EVER have played out 'fairly' is simply another mark of pitwall stupidity (rather than an elaborate scheme to prop up lando) but 🤷‍♂️
