The biggest fault in playing magic the gathering online is not being able to physically strangle your opponents. When the fuck did everyone else get the fucking Turbo Steroid Decks starting every game with some fuckass zero cost card going "if you have seven cards in your hand rn you win immediately no matter what" that summons a 12/13 Fuckzilla with vigilance and deathtouch. Like oh wow wowwee congratulations fuck you. I wonder if your mother is self-aware enough to regret having children.
see, /this/ is how angry gamers are supposed to talk!
so take note, cos sounding like a bigoted broken record when your healer or tank drops the ball is just lazy
Gamer rage is the sound of a livid animal loudly biting at the bars of its cage because breaking your teeth on steel out of sheer frustration is the second-best thing to sinking them into someone's throat.
i love getting posts on my dash about this one cat named belphie, because for a hot minute I'll forget that belphegor obey me isn't the only belphie in the world and I'll be like woahhh belphie did what?! yeah he WOULD
and then i realise they're talking about their real life cat

How is it that you can a music library of like 1,200+ absolute bangers but as soon as you put it on shuffle in a group setting it's like. anime opening you added in 2010. homestuck parody song. musical artist who was cancelled last year for kidnapping and eating children in his basement. Hamilton
i get so freaked out by like. pictures of really big rope
I’d like to say that’s normal but I’m a frayed knot
i’m so fucking annoyed at this, just for that you don’t get photos of the rope
i changed my mind, this is just too horrifying not to share
it’s called a Hawser and is the thick cable or rope used for towing/mooring a ship
in conclusion, i have nightmares beyond description
NO it would NOT be cool
well i fucken disagree
@scumrunner do you have any cursed facts about hawsers to share ?
As a fiber nerd, i am personally very enthusiastic about them….
Ohhohohoho DO I EVER. Meet the “snapback zone,” not an area with cool hats, but instead the unintuitive range at which a hawser can kill you if it breaks under tension.
What if we kissed in the snap-back zone? 😳 😳 😳
I don’t think you guys understand how much force this is, a tow rope used to move a 20 foot boat snaps under tension with enough force to dent metal, shatter glass and seriously injure anyone in its way. A Hawser on the other hand… Well I’ve seen a concrete pier with a chuck the size of a sedan ripped out of it by a line failure, and anecdotally, I’ve heard of a 2 ton heavy cargo forklift being skidded sideways, then knocked over. These lines snap with enough force to noticably dent the hull armor of navy ships.
This is a line designed to hold in place a moving object that can be easily in excess of 10000 tons. AND THEY CAN BREAK FROM THAT TENSION ALONE.
THESE THINGS ARE TERRIFYING RUBBER BANDS FROM HELL.
Nope Rope
NOPE ROPE
I’m once again reminded of its much smaller cousin, the haywire.
You’ve heard of the term, “Going haywire,” right? Ever spared a thought to why that term exists?
See, time was there was a prototype automatic hay-baler. But this was in that magic period juuust before we really got into standardized sizes. So calibration of the machine was handled manually - a mix of guessing and learning from the results of guessing. If you’ve read Raising Steam by Sir Terry Pratchett you know that many people don’t get to learn from the results of their own guesses, due to being dead.
A poorly calibrated hay-baler had the mechanical strength to smush the hay into a tight bundle, wrap the wire around it, and tie that wire off to maintain the bale’s form. But the pressure of the over-packed hay was a constant outward force. Each bale made by an over-tight baler was potential energy in physical form. We have a word for “potential energy in physical form” and that word is “bomb.”
So sometimes, a man would toss a hay bale and it would land with a twang and the man who’d been reaching down to pick it up where it landed was dead.
And that is what “haywire” means.
oh nice. i knew hay bales occasionally spontaneously combust, didn’t know they used to have an explosion factor too
I am learning multiple things today
Normally I’d expect wet plant matter to be less likely to go up in flames, but not hay bales! Those pesky bacteria really like to party in damp conditions. And by party I mean “create heat.”
awesome how you can just have ocs and they live in your brain forever and torment you

when I was in high school I had a literature teacher who had a policy of unlimited extra credit. All you had to do was read a book by a notable author (his discretion) and have a little chat with him after school to prove that you read it. No limits, no need for variety (one month I decided I really loved Kurt Vonnegut and just read everything of his I could get my hands on).
Yes, I was tearing through books constantly, and talking to this teacher at least weekly. Because even though I always loved reading as a kid, literature was always a very weak subject for me in terms of a teaching-to-standardized-test school setting (I just do awful on "what color were the curtains" type multiple choice questions. Those details don't stick in my memory THEY JUST DON'T). But that didn't matter for this class. I could just read my way out of any bad test score. I have always had fond memories of how I "fudged" my way through that class and "abused' the extra credit policy.
I was thinking about it again today, and only just now realized that he absolutely tricked me into being well-read, while my teenage self thought I was totally getting away with something. THAT MOTHERFUCKER. I hope he's doing well.
i may have my father's worst traits but i am more ethical & virtuous with them than him
Sometimes i think about the letters Lucy wrote her mom in early canon. I wonder if she told her mom about her first real friend and his stupid blue cat
I think about natsu finding that letter too

Story concept:
There's a series of mysterious, otherwise unconnected deaths happening across the country, where the only things that the deceased have in common are that they had at least one enemy who would want them actually-for-real-fucking-dead, but who invariably always had a solid alibi of where they were during the time of death, and almost every time there's an eyewitness who insists that they saw a large black horse, with no reins, harness nor saddle, walking loose by itself somewhere in the area, walking away from the location the death occurred. Even in places where a horse would be an extremely unlikely sight, like at 3 am in the middle of a city without a stable anywhere nearby.
The black stallion becomes known as an ill omen, a messenger of mysterious deaths of generally somewhat-signifcant people, all unlikely but ambiguously accidental. People have ambivalent feelings towards it, some consider it simply a dark and evil, terrifying thing, while some point out that none of these black horse incidents have happened to "innocent people"; It's always been someone involved in some kind of shady business.
In truth, the deaths are all connected, and they are, indeed, murders. Or to be more exact, they are assassinations. There's a very skilled and sought-after hitman who knows how to make every killing look like an accident (or enough like an accident for plausible deniability, nobody can prove that it was a murder). He is also a shapeshifter, who only knows how to take two forms: Human and horse.
