One part of Henry’s backstory is the school play that Joyce directed, so they did know each other. Joyce also hasn’t had much to do in Season 5, which feels like a missed opportunity. Honestly, I think they should’ve made Joyce and Henry good friends back when they were in high school.

What if Henry was also “special,” like Will not in the sense that he was gay, but that he was a more sensitive, emotionally vulnerable kid. What if Joyce tried to help Henry back then, but where Joyce basically made him feel abandoned. And what if Henry resented her for that?

This could parallel her guilt not noticing that Will was missing sooner.

Out of all five Wheelers, Holly is the only one worth large chunks of screentime? Like, her siblings are main characters if their baby sister was kidnapped, they should be front and center. Their parents nearly died. But one just gets an implied breakup with her boyfriend, then just randomly becomes a master sniper? And the other just does basically nothing, either being a one-note anchor to his girlfriend or just a hype man to his gay best friend.

Nancy had a prior connection to Vecna before Holly ever became relevant. He even showed her a vision of one of her family members dying. Could Holly being one of the 12 kids be tied to Nancy's meddling? This would give her a guilt that forces her to fight like hell to save her little sister.

Mike could be the leader and heart (not a Byler fan here) again, through his connection to Holly. Mike put a lot more into his best friend being gone than his own little sister. This should have sparked Season 1 Mike again. This could have caused him to take control again. This emotional motive, his sister being kidnapped and his parents nearly dying—would give him more depth in dealing with his girlfriend considering killing herself. Also, Mike introduced the idea of Holly the Heroic, and isn’t that anfactor in Holly's storyline?

I think Ted and Karen would work better than Vicky in guarding Max. Karen, not fully healed, was able to contrive something that killed three demo-dogs. This would allow all four Wheelers a method to fight for Holly

A world-ending situation, with one of the kids being kidnapped, would be a great way for the dysfunctional Wheelers to get their shit together and be a family. This could’ve been an awesome storyline for the family.
