Just a heads up, Tomoyoshi just planned things as it came along, not really having an outline of what she planned, so...

What was supposed to happen after Part 17-1?

Italy is actually in a perfect dream with HRE, but Italy doesn't want to be part of a dream where everything is alright when everyone in the real world is suffering, so he wants to leave.

Russia and China are in the annexe, where China feels a draft in the wall (which leads to the deeper rundown part of the mansion from the original Ao Oni games) and he also hears Russia talking to someone on the phone. Still don't know what's up with that (revealed in ending plan).

When two head back to the safe room, China is extra quiet upon his return, just when Italy wakes up after rejecting the dream and tells everyone around him what happened

Meanwhile, in timeline 2, Romano calls Spain a dumbass for telling England everything, but things happen where that timeline's England runs into our!Italy, our!Germany and our!America in the piano room and the whole putting a shield on them and sending them back to their timeline happens, but he also sends Spamano back to their timeline too and also gives them some things to hold onto when they leave.

Something like a magically sealed item that holds most, if not all, of England's magic, but it would still be difficult to just regain all his magic and cure his blindness so easily.

And also there's a bloody envelope given to Romano a bloody envelope but don't open it yet (need to double check)

Turns out both America and Canada can do magic since they were once under England, and together with Japan, who can perform seals and use talismans, help to break the seal on the item with England's magic inside

Seal is broken and England regains a bit of his eyesight, but America celebrates anyway

Meeting happens and the nations talk about finding the key to do front door to escape. Romano is quiet

Romano talks to Italy and dramatic things happen because of the envelope

Romano read the stuff in the envelope it seems, and it's a letter from an England who also got blinded, but still able to see a tiny bit to write this out (double check). Emotional message to America, and the letter ends with England admitting that America was his hero and he's glad to have raised him.

Oh and uuuuuuuuuh...the envelope also has the key to go out, but they can't leave yet (like they have to break the clocks…and more insidious to uncover).

That's what I got from the talk. I'll try and polish this up! But the "ending" for series is clear, and this is what Tomo really wanted to happen...

So what's the ending?

First of all, it turns out Tomoyoshi made RomaHeta as well? Don't know if anyone remembers it, but basically another HetaGame where everyone's sucked into a game made by Japan but a virus trapped the nations inside it. It was popular because of Italy and Romano became badass priests for the boss fight.

Now brace yourselves, my dears. Because it turns out...

This timeline was meant to fail! ✧⁠◝⁠(⁠⁰⁠▿⁠⁰⁠)⁠◜⁠✧

Also, it turned out Spain and Romano came to the mansion in previous timelines too, but hey this is the furthest they got (don't ask how Italy and Romano don't remember).

But the biggest plot twist of all is this!

HetaOni is actually a sequel to RomaHeta!

Everyone in HetaOni is just still trapped in the game and the previous timelines are just save files!

Also the Things are just amalgamations of various viruses, while HRE is an antivirus that is trying to save Italy (you know that explains why he just appeared in RomaHeta for that one second when Italy went berserk with magic...)

And Prussia getting the intrusive thoughts of CONGRATULATIONS in the game was because he's literally hearing the victory music cheer thing you get after you defeat a boss in an RPG.

Also, fun fact but not very clear? Not all of the nations are inside the game. The ones that are in the game in their place are actually AIs who are just repeating the original nation's speech patterns and actions based on the previous save files (not sure what Kyo meant by sometimes or other times it's the nations or AIs).

The phone calls Russia kept getting are actually from the mods.

Now the planned ending is that the nations got to the root of the program and after finding it, but they could get out. However, Italy realised something (?), and in the end just sets everyone free, but he got the Aqua from KH: BBS treatment and had his soul lost in the void while everyone else returned to the real world.

Thus this is the ending that was meant to make way for Part 3 of the series of the fangames. First RomaHeta, then HetaOni, then...whatever supposed to happen afterwards.

The end

And that's that! Just a reminder tho that Kyo said Tomoyoshi doesn't mind if no one accepts the ending. I just thought to share it by typing out the summary and ending from the stream. Heck, Tomoyoshi thinks no one will believe Kyo anyway. All endings everyone else made is just as valid, and sharing this is for those who cherished HetaOni from a long time ago and can now rest from learning what was meant to happen.

One thing that is very relevant in the manga but is not present in either adaptations is the slow realization of the world, and the comfort of the Ship Five. The world of Nomansland is strange to the viewer - just left of comfortable. We understand it as a facsimile of the wild west, but people wear clothes that don't quite fit any time period, and the technology is all over the place. When we realize that this is actually an alien planet, it makes sense to the viewer as their strange feelings are proven to have been valid. People wear strange layers and a million belts.

And then in one of the first few chapters we see Vash and Rem together for the first time.

This is the first person I can recall seeing wearing something so simple. A t-shirt and jeans. And in this scene Vash is wearing a similar simple outfit. It instantly makes Rem stand out as if apart from the world, simplier and to the audience familiar. I could never imagine red coated Vash walking down the street, but something about this woman feels like she is real in a way. And here we see her mention her ticket to the future. (I could gush about this scene but I'll push on).

Anyways, I think that in Trigun clothing and setting and how the viewer relates to them is very important. We only see Vash in casual clothing when he is somewhere that he feels comfortable, when he is somewhere he considers home. One instance is when he is masquerading as Eriks, and one is when he is at Ship Five - the only two places he really seems to consider as his home at any points during the manga.

I really dislike the anime's decision to make the members of Ship Five have strange, futurist clothing. This makes the occupants of Ship Five feel strange and foreign to the viewer, separate from not only the world but from ourselves. I felt like Vash's time spend in this area is notable in the story and stands out because he is dressed so normally around others who are also dressed so casual. It tells you just how comfortable he is here, and again as a viewer it makes these people and Vash in this instance relatable and in many ways real. He stops being Vash the Stampede and we are able to see him as a person.

Okay okay - as promised let me talk about the Ticket to the Future. (several of these photos are taken from @lonelysnowymemes' edit of this scene - please go check it out if you haven't watched it!)

This scene is a shock to the system. We don't know how long ago humans left earth, or how old Rem was when she left, and for the most part as the reader you have become accustomed to the setting. So at least when I was reading this, to suddenly see Rem on a train felt so... mundane. She isn't wearing special space clothes, she isn't even in her t-shirt and jeans from her time on the ship. She is wearing what perhaps I might wear if I was going somewhere special. This scene is so important because we know so little about Rem, and when we do hear about her especially in the anime adaptations she seems to be almost like a Virgin Mary figure, somewhere high up next to god, untouchable. And this mundane scene shakes that picture of her.

It is a slow and quiet scene in a hectic manga. And then, the scene comes to an end.

Rem wakes up in a room, alone. I always assumed this was on earth, before she became a higher ranking member of the SEEDS project. And you realize that Rem had this dream, this revelation, in the midst of a deep depression. While this analogy is applied often to the inherent goodness that people can accomplish in the future, here the ticket is a way to push forward. I get the sense that this was the start of a long journey. A little dream did not magically fix her world, or her pain. She still wakes up in a messy room, in the dark, and alone. But you can almost still feel the lingering lightness that she felt in the dream. Again I want to push the setting of this scene. A messy bedroom that could feel familiar to the viewer - as someone with bad priorities and depression, this is a familiar sight to me.

And finally, just to top it off. Why does this line convince Vash that people, despite their actions yesterday, can go on to be good tomorrow?

Because that is what Rem tells him. Vash struggles after hurting Rem, and this discussion of both the depression he feels from seeing Tessla and the guilt of hurting Rem as a darkness that he finds himself swallowed by, she uses the same analogy that pushed her out of her own depression to tell him to continue forward. Vash tells himself this, takes to heart this analogy of the ticket, not to ignore the bad things that he has done but to rather help himself to continue onwards.

Sorry if this is super scatterbrained I've just been thinking about these things a lot the past week or so.
