VC2 Motion Graphics

This is the motion graphic that I have developed for my final piece of the Shakespeare 400 project. 

Overall I am very pleased with the outcome of this motion graphic. I feel I have used transitional effects well and the use of fading helps to give an atmosphere to this motion graphic. I feel I have translated my developing ideas well in to my motion graphic but I feel that if I had allowed myself more time then I could have developed a motion graphic with either illustrated animations or my own voice recorded over the visuals

With this third idea that I have developed, I have been toying with the idea of using my own voice as audio to read the Sonnet over the imagery and typography that is present in the motion graphic. The imagery will be very similar to that of my first idea and I have decided against a lined paper background and have gone back to a much darker one. The background I am thinking of going with for my motion graphic is a blue one with darker shadow around the edges, as I feel this will create more ambience and atmosphere for my motion graphic.

This is my second idea that I developed. This idea was based more around Hamlet than Sonnet IV as I decided to see how effective a quote from that story could be used. Even with this idea I seemed to hit brick walls as to how to develop a motion graphic long that fit the required length restrictions, as it was a two line phrase.

For this part of the project I have been set the challenge of developing a motion graphic to celebrate 400 years of William Shakespeare.

I have been given a list of famous quotes from Shakespeare’s various plays and Sonnets, and have decided to go with a quote from Sonnet IV.

This is the quote:

Why do I love the silence of the moon,

The paradisal distance of the dawn,

The depth of eve mysteriously withdrawn,

Better than all the roses of late June,

The garden's breath, the orchard's golden boon,

The burning brightness of the new-mown lawn,

The mossy forest-floor with beech-mast strawn,

And green trees waving in the depth of noon.

Night hath her dreams and the lone heart its tears;

Silence and longing weep themselves to rest Each on the other's mild and maiden breast;

The seeking spirit sighs, the dim star hears

 Distance and high devotion suit the best,

And deep as thy deep eyes the dawn appears.

This is my explainer video that I have developed using After Effects. Overall I am pleased with the outcome given the time that I left for myself to achieve this. If I’d have used my time better while developing this motion graphic I would have explored using film as well as typography and I would more than likely explore a more illustrative approach to this method.

After developing this video I have a better understand of what an explainer video is, what they can be used for and how effective their uses can be. I have also developed a better understanding of how to use Adobe After Effects and how to develop a motion graphic. This is a technique I will use more and more now that I know how so to gain a better technique and better understanding than what I have gained from this project.

This is the final idea that I have developed for my explainer video and it follows a similar direction to my first idea but with more transitional effects and more imagery of myself to try to add a little humour to the video to compliment some of the facts.

This layout is one that stands out to me more than my last two but I will try to merge all of my ideas together in a certain way.

This is my second idea. This idea is a bit bare compared to the last as this one explores a more typographic direction. This explainer will have the same order and contents as the last idea, bar the imagery and will end in a similar way.

This is my first idea. I have included all of the facts and statistics about myself that I want to include in my own explainer video. (This much detail in the facts and stats isn’t the same in the next few ideas, I detailed here to keep a good idea of what I want to include)

With this explainer video I am thinking of including images of myself and things i like that are relevant to the facts and statistics present in my explainer video.

The explainer will start with my name and nickname and will then go on to show a few facts about myself such as occupation, study, truths about myself (lol).

The explainer will then go on to state statistics relevant to my gaming lifestyle as well as a fact about a hobby of mine... Eating...

This explainer video is for a company called “DollarShaveClub” and it uses humour in the most effective way. The way that the comedy is delivered throughout this video helps the viewer to stay interested and engaged, as well as being informed about a cost effective product and how else the company helps throughout their community.

This is an explainer video for Spotify, that was developed when the company first landed in the US. They use a very pleasing mix of music, hand drawn animation and stylish transitional effects to draw the viewer in.

This is an extremely effective explainer video as it is very easy to watch, it’s exciting to look at and it makes you want to hear more and know more about the company by the time it finishes.
