DIY Catbus Poncho
For Christmas I made Melissa a CATBUS PONCHO! My mom helped me sew it because she is a wonderful seamstress. I based the pattern off of the Totoro Poncho that I own (I bought the Totoro one off Amazon years ago). I am super happy with the results!

Just progress update to the last craft day (7 I think!). So, I wanted to note that my only productive way of "helping" so far has been to come up with the idea, help choose fabric with Mel, web search patterns with Mel, have Zoe as a child, and fund the project. All if the rest so far is Melissa! We've noted that we tend to not give ourselves enough time to help me learn to sew, so she's just taken on the sewing. Plus my cutting is unintentionally uneavenly horrendous most of the time, so she even cut the fabric too! I'm useless! Lol. But not for long. We are running out of time on this one because we plan to finish it for comic con. But, we've got plenty of ideas in the works!

Went fabric shopping for our upcoming project! We want to jump straight back into creating all the things in preparation for Comic-con next month! Our priority is to make a costume/dress for Zoe on the style of the character May from the movie Totoro! It’s one of mine and Zoe’s favorite movies :) we are really excited to start crafting again! By next week we should have patterns and start sewing :D
Crafting Prep Day:
Here are some pics from one of our crafting prep days at Jo Ann's. We went shopping for fabric for Red Hood 2.0 and we also saw some awesome fabrics for potential Disney costumes/dresses for Zoe! *ahem*little mermaid*ahem*ursula*
Craft day 4 & 5 pt 2:
So while searching for the new red fabric for Zoe's hood we found this awesome fabric ready and begging to be made into a new dress! I got Zoe the Little Mermaid pattern and Mella (a recent fan and advocate of Friendship is Magic) got Zoe a super fun (and agreeably loud) rainbow My Little Pony's Pattern from Jo Ann's Fabric Store.
Zoe struggled to choose between the two, and after changing her mind back and fourth over and over while Mella was measuring her she finally chose the Little Mermaid fabric for her first dress. Mella whipped it up so well on her machine even though it was pushing 2am by the time she finished! What a steam engine!
In the end, Zoe (and everyone!) LOVED the final result of the dress, and we are saving the second fabric for Crafting Day 6!
Craft day 4 & 5 Pt.1:
Crafting till 2am! This craft day also spanned 2 additional days of prep and 3 crafts so were counting this as day 4 and 5
With a new fabric, and red thread we tackled Red Hood 2.0! I took on the task of cutting and Mel did all the sewing! Over all we were happy the way the hood's fabric draped on this one.
The next craft was the wolf brooch to clasp the hood shut. I bought a discounted pendant, spray painted it silver, and drew a wolf silhouette/logo on it with oil based sharpie. The next day we attached a sticky clasp on the back to use it for the hood!
I finally got to do the Red Riding Hood Photoshoot today so I will upload those photos soon!
Crafting Day 2!
Day 2 has been dedicated to the second hood for Zoe's upcoming Little Red Riding Hood photoshoot. Of course its the red hood! We decided on a capelet length. We had already cut out the pattern on our last crafting day so Melissa sewed through this one in a relatively short amount of time! We finished in about 2 hours. Once again I helped by finding the pattern, picking the fabric, and helping the cutting and pinning. Today I didn't do too well on the cutting side of things ( uneven and off pattern). I had ONE job pretty much... Just ONE JOB! lol. Either way, Mella saved the day again with her excellent sewing skills. We plan to add a wolf-broach or a clasp and button to it soon.
We loved the results! the color an fit was gorgeous. We didn't expect the fabric to be as stiff though, so the hood falls differently than expected. We are considering making a second hood (red hood 2.0) for Crafting Day 3. If so, we plan on doing an inner lining, using red thread, and choosing a fabric that is less thick. For that, I'd be able to practice my sewing skills on the inner lining and actually get my hands a bit dirtier! I'm looking forward to it :) Hope you like the results! Zoe's shoot is scheduled for March 15th, and if we can sew before that day I'll post it here!

The mission has begun! Melissa Santa Maria, Zoe (my daughter), and I (Gayle Warfield) have taken on a mission to do 100 days of crafting! The premise is pretty simple: we love crafting... we want to do all the crafts... the end.
Ok, so that isn't the end. Actually this is inspired by https://giveit100.com , where the idea is to practice something for 100 days and record the amazing results as you accomplish them! Being 2 Graphic Designers/ Crafters/ Artists/ Overall-Creative-Persons, it was only natural for us to want 100 crafted creations to call our own! 100 products of our craftiness! 100 Craft babies!! *ahem* Ok... I've gone too far.
The photos here are CRAFT DAY 1. We worked form this pattern HERE to create a Wolf Hooded Scarf which I intend to use for my daughter Zoe's "Red Riding Hood" photoshoot that I'm setting up in a few weeks (ill post photos from that later.
We went to Joann's Fabric store and, guided by Melissa's fabric expertise, I picked this fun mix of pattern and color. Melissa doesn't claim to be a seamstress but she is SUPER TALENTED on the sewing machine (obviously I am impressed) so she did all of the sewing while I assisted with cutting, pinning, ironing and general vision direction. Other than that, basically I brought snacks and asked, "Is there anything I can do to help?" a lot. Haha! We ended up editing the ear size/shape some from the pattern to make it look more "wolf-y" but other than that the pattern was awesome!
