I'm gonna be quick and simple here as I usually am(lie). My name is Shade, and I post about Katekyo Hitman Reborn only really, my favourites are the Varia, I love them all equally but usually have more to work with when it comes to Squalo and Xanxus so I tend to talk about them more. It has infected me.
I'll reblog things but I also make art and analysis posts. Head canon and theory posts though are a rarity.
I also do some writing on Ao3 my handle being ShaderiaVoid, and two of my current series I'm working on are two Aus:
What could have been
A series I am writing exploring the differences Timoteo being upfront with Xanxus could have changed and how some things stayed the same. It is filled with head canons on the characters and has an oc in there.
Parasitism Pact
A series where instead of being frozen a parasite has been put into Xanxus to make him protect those of Vongola blood. With some serious unintended consequences.(Though at the start it's kind of silly)
There is also an additional arc that I wrote(and am slowly having updated):
Temporal Tribulations
A series where the TYL go back in time to help their present counterparts fight off a new enemy. Has a lot of ocs(they are the villains)
I also have an Oc ask blog! I love my guys a lot they're very fun.
Other than that, I'm cool with getting asks whenever. I promise I don't bite, much.

Getting in was easy enough, he just had to slink around in the dark. Though his eyes were adjusted to the low light, he knew that those acting as security were adjusted the same as him.
She kept to higher ground, finding ledges that can just barely hide her presence. Though when she heard two guards chatting just below her, she froze up. Quieted her breathing even more, while she was always light enough on her feet not to be noticed easily, that had been pushing her luck without even knowing it.
It is only after they eventually leave that he can manage to breathe easily as he moves. She needs to find the target item and get out of here, she doesn't want to have to fight here.
Buon Compleanno Gambetto~ In the middle of an assigned theft not everything will go incredibly smoothly, but she has just a bit of luck here and there.
Though he can fight, and does so recreationally, Gambetto hates having to kill, which on these missions will more often be the case as she'll be hunted down if she leaves someone who sees her alive.
It's rare he'll be spotted, but he doesn't want to chance it. Even if he could handle it.
He trudged through the halls, barely taking anything in, aimlessly walking as he was set off into the mansion. What happened to the people inside, was required nothing short of a slaughter.
Missions for him, always ended up being a blur, it was easier on some level just to zone out completely and let his instincts guide him. But it's not like the thought of killing bothered him, it was just that it was simply more effective. To rend, until there was not but silence.
A single sound, barely audible breathing, picked up by his ear alerted him as he zipped over to his unsuspecting foes. Faster than they would have realized he could move. Carving them without mercy, their screams only being an indicator to him that he must cut more, until it stops. Until he knows they are dead. At some point, his mask cracked, but he pays it no mind.
Cutting off a head of one brings no mercy to the head itself as a thunk in this blur of a state means to stab and burn with vibrant storm flames to the offending object.
Hearing a choking sound from a body nearby he stabs into a chest cavity and pulls out with the blade the intestines. Only to be interrupted by a louder more prominent noise of gunfire. Looking up to stare for just a moment.
He stands up and walks towards the noise.
Buon compleanno Silen, have the absolute horror that he is during missions. Though he's very normal otherwise the fact of the matter where he simply enters a flow state that focuses only on the sounds he hears does mean he is UTTERLY terrifying when it comes to him actually doing his assassin work.
And yet outside of that, he is in fact, incredibly bulliable. Happens, all the time, mostly being Nas who does it.
While I know typically, outside of their duties Shinigami will dress themselves to fit in with humans. But a. they are questionable about this, b. It's mayuri we're talking about. If he is not the most noticeable person in a room with an outfit, is it really designed by him? Honestly, if it wouldn't get in the way of his work, he'd probably look even closer to an avant garde runway model. then again, he'd figure it out.
You look up in your woozy state from the onslaught of attacks to find the only other co-worker you had still alive, was quickly asphyxiating as the man you were fighting crushes their throat in his hand. Posed proudly on the bodies of other defeated men, which you can only assume have perished with how motionless the pile looks you adjust to attempt to resume the fight, despite your body screaming you should run while you can. You've learned bright colours of the clothes should've been taken as a warning and not a joke as you previously had thought.
"Ohohoho~ Still standing? Good~ I prefer a bit more fight than the rest gave me."
As your co-worker turns into nothing more than a corpse in his hands, he turns his face to look at you with a smile.
"Hope you can keep up dear."
With that he drops the body into the pile and in a flash, faster than you can process cold metal hits your face.
Buon Compleanno Lussuria, I loooove him so much. I feel like I don't see many portrayals of him actually fighting and being taken seriously as a threat. So I aim to change that. After all, he can be pretty scary if he was allowed to be, it's a shame he mostly gets relegated to not getting any fights of his own. I understand why, but come on, a person can dream.

A lighter one to pair with the previous, sometimes, parenting is not always so easy even if it's not the first time you've done it. Especially since Nemuri is clearly much more energetic and outwardly chaotic than Nemu was.
Kurotsuchi Week Day 5 - Scientists also have feelings
I wasn't really feeling all that shippy, so now you get Mayuri after TYBW working on Nemuri. He probably put all his focus into it just to avoid the pain he had felt, but in the quiet moments, it probably crept up on him regardless. Likely often falling asleep near the still growing nemuri, while knowing she would succeed in growing, while the pain of the previous still fresh in the mind. Less uncertain than prior ones, yet still difficult.
Look, we know how well Mayuri gets along with Urahara, I bet he would sometimes attempt to menace him with creatures only for it to fail for various reasons. Hell, in this alone I can imagine Hiyori walking in and just yelling at Mayuri, and then Urahara for not paying attention. Only for Urahara to reveal that he was aware, pissing both Mayuri and Hiyori off for two very different reasons.
This is now the third time I have drawn him turning into some sort of insect, but the first time actually finishing the drawing. It WILL happen again though. I don't think he actually messed anything up, rather someone else got their experiment mixed up with his resulting in this. He'll likely fix it rather quickly but it still likely frustrates him to no end that it happened at all.
I imagine when he first got placed into solitary, his first reaction was to figure out what he could manage to do. Such as seeing if he could get a restraint off or not, just to try and keep his own mind active in there.

i personally think it's unlikely that mayuri was a random rukongai brat, but that doesn't mean i can't draw him as one! he likes to cut up dead bodies :)
i was like "oooh i have plany of time" about mayuri's birthday earlier this month and then suddenly it was the day before and i had nothing to show for it. so here, take this extremely low-effort drawing to commemorate his birthday. don't ask who put the hat on him and survived
Summary: Hanami, a traditional Japanese festivity where people gather beneath the sakura to enjoy the transient beauty of cherry or plum blossoms in the spring.
Characters: Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Nemu Kurotsuchi, Zaraki Kenpachi
Wc: 1.6k
Tw: fluffy, feel good, short story. Spoilers for TYBW with mentions of character death, mentions of childhood neglect.

Comments: There was a post recently about Mayuri's shitty stamina stats, keep that in mind while reading. Also the art was impromptu this afternoon (I know, it'll make sense once you read the fic, I promise). Talking to @srtruth gave me motivation :)
Last but not least, I don't condone Mayuri's treatment of Nemu. His justifications do not reflect my own values.
Fic below the cut ✂️
"Ugh, I know, disgusting! I'm sweating like a... ahh... test subject about to be sliced open. Ooft... I really need to go back to traning... but I've been so busy rebuilding everything, a man can only, ahh... do so much!" Mayuri monologued breathlessly as he climbed up the hill. His legs burnt with exertion, and his brow was covered in pearls of sweat that dripped slowly down his face now that he had removed his orange hat. "Intelligent design my ass, ahh... what kind of idiot, uh... would create such an inefficient, messy cooling system? Ahh... Surely, there are other ways, better ways, to avoid hyperthermia without making one's clothes stick to one's skin. Yes... ahh... Yes, I know! You don't have to say it, Nemu... I should have worn lighter clothes... ahh... but who would have thought it'd be so hot at this time of year?"
The early spring sun was barely starting its descent but its powerful rays still beat down on thise below, no clouds to shield them from its intense heat.
"Yo, Kurotsuchi! Who you talking to?" A familiar hoarse voice pulled Mayuri out of his ramblings.
"No one." He replied, a little flustered.
"Huh... Didn't expect to see you here."
"Tsk, of course you didn't. I never come."
In just a few quick strides, Zaraki Kenpachi caught up to him and joined his sisyphean ascent. "Yeah... so what are you doing here?"
"Wasting my precious time." He panted.
"Uh?"
"I'm spoiling... ah... my daughter. That's what I am doing, barbarian. Ugh, damn this hill! Does it ever end?"
Zaraki went quiet, wondering if his colleague had lost his mind again and forgotten that his chances to ever spoil Nemu were long gone. "Right..." He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck. "And how exactly are you doing that?"
Mayuri made a jerking movement and suddenly Zaraki noticed he was carrying something. He had thought the scientist was merely crossing his arms but no, he was clutching a heavy object tightly against his chest and trying to humph it up as his grip started to fail. A sort of glass container, large, with some kind of fluid sloshing around inside it.
"I... She asked every year. And I never, ah... I was busy, you see? And this... well, this is an utter waste of time!" The eccentric captain griped breathlessly. "Next time, I told her, until she stopped asking. But she would look out her window at the... the hills, you know? Longingly. Ah... And I knew... I knew! But... ah..." Mayuri stopped in his tracks and grimaced, a hand now on his flank. "Stitch, ugh! I still didn't take her." He let out a long exhalation and stared at the peak. "I swear it looks farther than when I started." He shook his head to the sides and resumed the hike. And Zaraki, still just as confused as he was before, followed behind. "She never asked for anything... not a thing. But for some stupid reason, uh... she always wanted to come to the Hanami."
"So this year... you're coming for her?"
"With her, yes. It's on her birthday... this year. Ahh... so I'm fulfilling my promise.... waste of my time as it might be. Because... well, it's her birthday."
"Right..."
"I never had anyone, care about my birthday wishes... ooft... It's not like I was cruel to her..." the scientist rambled on between pants. "It's just how it is... parents don't care about that stuff."
"Dunno, I always celebrated Yachiru's birthday. Even if it was stupid and made up. Made her happy."
"Ugh, see? Happy... like that's my responsibility... hah! No one ever gave a rat's ass about whether I was happy as a child. Spoiler alert... ahh... I wasn't" Mayuri stopped again, trying hard to catch his breath and looked him up and down. "How are you not even breaking a sweat? What kind of monster are you?"
Zaraki barked a gruff laugh. "You're just weak, Kurotsuchi. Want me to carry th..." now that he was staring straight at it, without the glare of the sun, he could see the jar wasn't just full of fluid. There was something... - someone? - floating inside it. "Is that...?"
"Nemu." Mayuri nodded like it was the most natural thing in the world to carry your dead child's brain in a jar up a hill. "Told you, I'm bringing her to the Hanami."
Zaraki could only stare in shock. "Look, Kurotsuchi... this is all very nice but... I mean, I'm coming cos Yachiru loved the sakura blossoms, brought her lieutenant badge, see?" He pulled the bronze medallion out of his pocket and held it up in front of those sharp, golden eyes. "Couldn't you have done the same, instead of..." he looked pointedly at the gory jar.
"And what on earth would I have accomplished by doing that? Oh, hi Nemu, how're you feeling this lovely evening, child? Ah... I took your badge to a picnic under a tree, hope you're happy now."
"Please... tell me you don't ask the brain how it's feeling in the evenings."
"Of course I don't!" Mayuri snapped, his paper-thin patience starting to run out. He hoisted the heavy jar up again, trying to prevent it sliding. "I didn't ask her how she was at any point of the day before, why would I start now? What a waste of time, asking people how they are... just like greetings." He scoffed. "Why don't we all just assume everyone's hunky-dory unless they say otherwise? My point is, she wanted to see the flowers."
"Yeah, I get that."
"Finally! Took you long enough, but then again, there might only be two brains here. Let's go."
"You want me to carry... her?"
"No!"
Painfully slowly, they crawled up and up. Zaraki was growing more restless by the second, how could anyone walk so slowly? He was just about to sling that man, brains and all, over his shoulders and sprint the rest of the way when they finally glimpsed the summit.
Across the plateau, hundreds of people gathered in small groups, families and friends, all buzzing with excitement, enjoying the beautiful scenery under a canopy of pink blossoms.
"Hey there, Zaraki! And Kurotsuchi taicho, what an honour!" Shunsui's deep baritone beckoned them towards him.
He sat, legs crossed, on a large pink blanket atop the grass, surounded by many of the Gotei captains and lieutenants, a cup of sake swinging perilously in his hand.
Mayuri scrunched his nose up but said nothing, which Zaraki thought was a great testament to how much he had grown since the war, and how determined he was to make a sacrifice for his daughter. Instead of bitter complains, the scientist simply took his place by Toshiro's side while Kenpachi sprawled himself next to him.
As Mayuri was placing the jar down, the first predictable squeal reached them from across, as Matsumoto pointed at it accusatorily and yelled:
"Ew!! Disgusting!"
Immediately, Hitsugaya joined in, "Oh, what in the name!?"
"What is wrong with you?" Nanao jumped to her feet in her outrage, pushing her glasses up the brigde of her nose. "There are children here!"
Hirako sighed, like a weary father scolding their kid for the 10th time, "Ugh, Mayuri... this ain't the right place for your experiments. Have some decency man..."
Many hummed in agreement, while others, like Soi Fong, simply scoffed "Freak" and delicate Momo covered her eyes, her once rosy cheeks taking on a sickly yellowish shade, as if she might faint or vomit at any moment.
"Listen..." Mayuri began to explain, but Zaraki had had it. He placed a shielding hand in front of him, cutting him off, and addressed the rest.
"Everyone shut the fuck up! Give the man a fucking break and mind your own fucking business! Are we clear?"
Not a convincing argument for sure, but effective nonetheless.
"My, my... what a beautiful display of camaraderie, Zaraki taicho." Captain Commander Kyoraku praised, smirking slyly. "We should all take you as an example. We're here to enjoy each other's company and bask in the glory of ephemeral beauty. I am sure Kurotsuchi taicho has his reasons for bringing this- uh... this, here today. Perhaps to remind us all that, like the cherry blossoms, life lasts but a second. So, let's enjoy it." With that he raised his drink and brought it to his lips.
Whether it was his little speech or Zaraki's unexpected intervention - and how quick he was to draw Nozarashi at the most minimal sign of a challenge - everyone decided to hold their tongues and allow the creepy captain of the 12th to do whatever creepy experiment he was surely, creepily scheming without further comments or questions.
Zaraki could feel his cheeks burning with faint embarrassment, but he didn't care. He wasn't sure what had propelled him to speak up other than, during the climb, he'd realised he owed that kid. Both he and Kurotsuchi would be dead had she not sacrificed her life and, damn it, he was going to make sure she enjoyed the damn festival.
As for the clown... well, he deserved a break, that was all.
"Here, taicho." Madarame handed him a bottle of sake and a little glass, which he took with a grunt of appreciation.
He poured a drink and handed it to the scientist, sat quietly in seiza between him and what remained of his child.
Mayuri's clever eyes scanned his face for meaning, narrowing suspiciously, yet he still reached out a dainty hand to accept the cup.
Soto voice so only he would hear him, Zaraki whispered, "Happy birthday, Kurotsuchi." He tipped the bottle to toast him and then tapped it softly against the jar. "Happy birthday to both of ya."
Happy birthday to these two! I think that Mayuri probably doesn't celebrate his own birthday that much, but for Nemu? Of course she has a little party. You know he probably fussed over what to do for this one too.

It happened faster than one could blink, the halls being emptied out with only the sound of a whipping blade and the cutting of flesh. Tracking the Assassin that had begun to slaughter their men was more than difficult, it was almost downright impossible.
Within seconds of him entering a camera frame he'd be found in the next, leaving only bodies in the previous. They could get glimpses of the man's white hair, the black uniform but it's only once they managed to pause one of the recordings that they succeeded in seeing who had entered the facility.
Varia. Not only that, the strategy captain.
But before they could do anything, there was a blade, cold metal, it's temperature not yet budged by the warm blood dripping off of it.
"Voooooi, I found you."
Buon Compleanno Squalo~ I wanted to focus on something with Squalo which is his blinding speeds that he can reach, i mean the guy does the 'teleports behind you' thing with no particular special ability for it in the rain battle, and at the very least the hibari fight is apparently really hard to keep track of in the speed for any bystanders.
Whether you know he's approaching or not, could you really stop him getting where you are?
To be caught in the middle of the Vongola manor was a bit of a difficult thing. While they hadn't planned to move yet, Osmio knew there was trouble if he had to talk to the leader. Hyperintution is a pain in the ass. Though, it was the thing he had danced around so long.
But eventually that was bound to fail, when he didn't answer a direct question, or at least not right away. One there was too quick to attack, Mercurio reacted quicker, and he had to move that instant. He just wished his sister wasn't caught with him at the same time, even if she reacted poorly, it's the other side who started it. They'll escape, and begin their plan.
After all they don't know much about his plan, and he knows Tsunayoshi would rather try to talk him down if he hasn't successfully hurt anyone he cares about. Their long standing 'friendship' on his end would service this. He doesn't want to go as far as he will, but it has to happen for his ideals.
-
She had thought this would go as another normal meeting, and then Tsuna had asked a simple question. But a pointed one. They had danced around the reason they had gotten scars. But finally trapping Osmio by asking who gave them to him, she could see him bristle. She knew Osmio would be honest, likely apologize and explain that he simply made a mistake in one of his experiments and that he didn't want Tsuna to know. It's honest enough even if it's not fully accurate as to why he was doing those experiments.
But that momentary tenseness in an already tense conversation, meant something had to break. It was as if someone vaguely knew something, but in the time, she couldn't see who acted other than they had immediately launched flame.
Maybe she shouldn't have acted so quickly back and they wouldn't be in this situation. Not helped by the grunts that heard the commotion and are trying to join the fray. She just prays they can get back safe.
Buon Compleanno Osmio and Mercurio. I felt a single piece for their shared birthday would be easier on me, but of course I was going to write both of their perspectives of the scene.
This is just about before the big mess in temporal tribulations. Tsuna wasn't going to threaten them at all, but Osmio is a paranoid fucker. But with how tense the conversation was something was bound to happen. Tsuna just thought someone had hurt his friend though...
