Grammichele ~ Italy (1693) — Hexagonal City Layout
Grammichele was rebuilt in 1693 after the devastating earthquake that destroyed the nearby medieval village of Occhiolà. The reconstruction was commissioned by Carlo Maria Carafa, Prince of Butera, who personally sketched the initial hexagonal design with the help of architect Michele da Ferla.
The town was designed with anti-seismic principles, making it one of the few planned urban centers in Sicily built for safety and functionality
The central square, Piazza Carlo Maria Carafa, serves as the heart of the town and is surrounded by key landmarks. - wikipedia
