Leon's one comment about Gideon's bad breath does not mean that he has bad hygiene.

He has a SKIN DEFORMITY that does not make him dirty

AND he's a DOCTOR he's a clearly precise one at that and since he handles contaminatable samples he would have to be a very sterile man

I feel like part of the reason people think he isn't clean is because of how his mutation has damaged his skin. Like how people think pockmarks or eczema is dirty when it's really not.

Also the gold teeth could be a choice, we don't know.
