Natal Venus Retrograde
This position has a bad reputation, but in many ways I disagree. People who’s Venus is retrograde in their birth chart tend to have a special ability to see beauty in things that others might not. The old saying “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is really apt here. Natal Venus retro people can perceive value in that which others have perhaps discarded or overlooked. That sounds like a gift to me.
The Loneliness of Libra
Libra lives in a perpetual masquerade and can end up so hollow, disconnected from their authentic self. So very stuck in their own head, so busy analyzing everything around them that they forget to sit with themselves. The actor perpetually researching their next role, learning about others as to figure out what performance to put on next. Other people see it as manipulation, but Libra sees it as survival, in a world that seems to ask so much of them. As to feel loved and accepted is not easy for most, no matter the astrological placements. In the quiet of night, when the parties have all died down and the bars are closed...when friends and lovers are fast asleep, Libra has to sit with themselves. In these moments, they can very much fall to pieces, grasping for an internal balance that just isn’t there. A balance between themselves and others can be so difficult as so much of who they are can be intertwined with the collective, with other’s curated perceptions of them.
Libra dominant people, despite the charm and the good reputation in social circles/at work..despite the many friends or suitors, are deep down some of loneliest people I've met so far.

Venus in the 9th: Love in Realms Beyond
As we delve deeply into the current cosmic situation, full of introspective, intense energy, I would like to take a moment to reflect on one of my favorite personal aspects. 9th house placements tend to get the generic treatment in terms of explanation or description, Venus especially. “You will fall and love and be attracted to people from different lands or cultures.” Yeah, that’s all well and great, but the 9th house is so much more than the house of far away travels, religion, and higher education. It is a house where we meet ourselves in other realms (a trait often given to the 12th house). It is a place to see beyond, not just the physical borders of the world, but of our minds and spirits as well. For many of us, we have been told that there is only one reality and if our own experiences do not align with it, then we are dysfunctional, broken. It is a clever and effective device to push us to conform. But the truth is, each of us lives within our own reality and it becomes interwoven with other humans’ realities as we move through life. In the 9th, we have an opportunity to tap into consciousness (that word gets thrown around a lot) that shows us how there is so much more than what we were told. So much more to this world and life. Here, we are pushed to break away from the archaic, ethnocentric definition and structures of ‘logic’. What is real?
Venus placed here is special. Venus is about beauty, love, and value. In the 9th, Venus is elevated. Here, the question of “What do you see as beautiful?” takes on a whole new meaning. Beauty is not seen through rose-colored glass here or skin-deep. Instead, it is seen through a lens of transcendence, finding value in things far beyond ourselves, our little boxes. The sort of traditional vapidity associated with Venus is not commonly found here. The complexities of our human experience is illuminated in this placement, and with time, we discover beauty is something that comes from a deeper place. The soul and the spirit. Many people with two or more 9th house placements often find their true home is found in these deeper places. It is where they feel the most comfortable.
Matured Venus in the 9th people need partners who will meet them where they are...in other realms. Close-minded people will likely seem unattractive and unwelcoming. People who like to playact as the “realist” as an excuse to belittle other’s experiences and realities are a deterrent. Cheap compliments like “You’re hot” “can ring empty in the 9th as these individuals are aware that they are SO MUCH more than the veneer of their exterior selves. They have seen the multiples realms within themselves and others, where beauty is a million different things.
Love in this house reminds me of the Hermit card in tarot. because the hermit studies quietly, perceived as sedentary, solo. But we do not know what they are thinking or feeling. 9th house placements creates perpetual students who are curious about the aspect of life the planet or aspect is linked to. Our skewed and westernized perspectives of romance delegitimizes the vast array of how people show love. Venus 9th house people partly show their love through study and making an effort to comprehend it on multiple levels. This might be through quiet, solo reflection, much like the hermit. (Give them plenty of meditation time, just as a general rule.) Some would confuse this coldness but that’s not so. 9th house love is profound and anchored in things beyond. This why the right partner is so important. Otherwise there is a high risk of being misunderstood and made to feel inferior.
Venus in the 9th usually want to physically reach out and experience the beauty of diversity in the world, learning firsthand about the perspectives of others far beyond in one way or another. These are the people who generally like to try foods from different cultural/ethnic groups and traveling, maybe even take a cultural studies course for fun. They are citizens of the world. As I mentioned previously, borders mean very little to them. Adventure is about learning and expansion vs. an adrenaline rush to these soulful cerebral creatures.

Capricorn Magic
As we are enveloped in Capricorn season, I have noticed more than ever the negatively-charged perceptions of Capricorn, as well as Saturn. As someone with a 9th House, 5-planet Capricorn stellium and additional Capricorn planetary placement closely in the 8th house, I will be the first person to tell you that Saturn as well as Capricorn can be horrid. Sometimes Saturn sits on your chest, vehemently telling you that you can’t do it, that you are not good enough. There are two major ways to deal with this. First, just give up and lay there, resigned to the fact that it will always be like this, unable to see your true value. Second, muster the strength to get the fuck up and tell Saturn that this just isn’t the way things are going to be. The latter is not as simple as it sounds. You have to build your internal strength through self-work. Seeing your worth clearly comes from cutting through the thickets of comprised the thorns of our social and cultural conditioning that shape so much of the understanding of ourselves as well as others. Bruised, worn down, bleeding, pushing forward through suffering of believing that you aren’t enough. You are determined to prove that voice wrong. Those truly touched by Saturn, especially Capricorn recognize this journey all too well.
People do not often associate hard work and suffering with magic. Magic is frequently seen as this instantaneous thing, manifesting right away. But I think that takes power and acknowledgment away from those who take on the hero’s journey. Those who have gone to the underworld or plowed the fields of time and lived to tell the tale. Manifesting is not merely wishing hard for something and it just becoming a reality like some portray it to be. Capricorn brings things to fruition through the sweat of a brow, the rough, cracked, yet masterful hands. To me, this can be just as magical as the wave of a fairy godmother’s wand or the utterance of spells. I chose Kris Kran’s Son of Pentacles (from her Wild Unknown deck) because I think it embodies the theme of my post. He keeps his head down, continues to work, but the gleam in his eye and the moon above him shows something beyond surface understanding. There is imagery in the deck that have a more traditional magical or enchanting vibe to them, but to me, this card with its limited color scheme, promises that perhaps when the full moons comes, his fields will bloom, bringing a new kind of beauty. One hard-earned.
During Capricorn season, we navigate through our own feelings of inadequacy and the things we have perhaps neglected within our selves or the world around us. So yes, many will not find that to be magical or exciting. But perhaps look at it another way. The work that you are doing will bring its own magic and create something long-lasting, a masterpiece. Something to be proud of and to cherish.
Venus in Capricorn
This placement gets a bad rap. All too often I see this being classified as a love for practicality and money. Truth be told, Capricorn reminds me of the pentacles in tarot in they are about so much more than money. It is about security and abundance in so many ways. Capricorn is actually quite a spiritual sign and if you really get to know Cappie-dominant individuals you will find they may have quite an esoteric side to them. No, they most likely won’t be adorned with crystals, burning sage on everything, or prescribing to new age fads. I think they may practice quietly. I have a professor who seemed very practical and non-spiritual, until I was invited to her home where it was very esoteric-centered. She has a Capricorn sun and moon.
Related to Venus, I don’t think this is as contradictory as portrayed by some astrologers. It all depends on what you value in love. Capricorn likes quality, something that is not quick to fray at the edges. The ten of pentacles in tarot is traditionally about the old couple and the family and wealth they have accrued over time. What wealth means is up to you, honestly. The family is clearly stable and comfortable, but loving also comes to mind. Some people show their love through taking care of others in practical ways. Capricorn can be nurturing, but they are not often portrayed in such a way. Venus in Cap shows their earthy affection perhaps in making sure the person/people they love have eaten or scheduled appointments, but also in that esoteric way, checking in and asking about the little things that others might have not noticed/bothered to. Capricorn remembers and a part of what makes them successful is their power of observation, especially when everyone else is busy looking at all the shiny things.
This all could also depend on what house Venus is placed in as well!

Just be
I don’t need love like they write about in songs or movies
I love myself just fine
I hold myself in the dead of night; warm and secure
You don’t need to stay all night or reassure me of your good intentions
When I look at you What I want is to feel the brush of your face against the nape of my neck The trace of your fingertips upon the inside of my thighs Kiss me like fire You solid underneath me like earth Fill me up like water Raising you higher like air
You permeate my skin like moonlight The way you grin when you think no one is looking makes me squeeze my legs tightly together
Have a drink, tell me stories, share your heavy burden from living in this chaotic world Exist in the quiet moments where your energy speaks louder than your words ever could No end game, goal, or labels in sight I don’t want to be your everything or your only one
Just be
when you find an academic source that’s perfect for your paper but it’s behind a pay wall
Deciding to cite it anyway base on the abstract, knowing your professor probably won’t go through and look up every source in works cited
if you guys want to read academic papers but they’re behind a paywall, get the chrome extension Unpaywall. when you visit a site that requires you pay for their journal to view the article, the extension will look for other open access sites that will show you the article for free, and it’s all completely legal. all that money goes to the publisher, the writer of the paper gets none of it. https://unpaywall.org
If you can find out an author’s name, contact them. They may be willing to email it to you.For free.
Check researchgate.net and academia.edu! Also authors’ professional websites.
Reblog to save a life
Also if you have a friend who’s a grad student (hi there) we often have a lot more access to journals through our library accounts and we can definitely hook you up with articles. Don’t be shy about asking, we promise you’re not bugging us and we’re happy to help, we all know that struggle!
And on Twitter there’s the hashtag #icanhazpdf (yeah, goofy, but we all feel like lolcats sometimes) and if you put the author and title of the article you want in a tweet with that hashtag there’s a bot that automatically retweets it and a lot of academic folks see it. EVERY time I’ve used it I’ve gotten the goods, even for fairly obscure material.
