that’s less starters than i would’ve liked to get through, but it’s progress. terribly sorry to those i didn’t get to, i’ll try to have them up soon!

Does it actually understand a thing she’s saying? Someone else might say otherwise, but she’d like to think she was being understood. “I’ll make it up to you, okay? Just give me a second to think of something...”

“Ah, no, really! It’s okay, I like listening to people talk. You weren’t boring me at all.” She’s quick to assure, smile bright and beaming with sincerity— it’s true, as much as she is a conversationalist, she also quite enjoys being able to listen to people talk. A moment where she fiddles with the ends of her hair ( she thinks she has probably gotten this enjoyment of listening to stories from her childhood, probably ), pausing before she returns her attention to the other. “Please, won’t you tell me more?”

“No, I believe you, I mean it!” She speaks genuinely, clearly showing in her expression. Naivety might be a better description of it, however— regardless, perhaps she should not be so trusting of strangers ( or believe in people without a doubt, but then she would not be quite herself, would she? )  “Just because some people might not believe you doesn’t mean it’s not true!”

“Sorry to bother you, but is this yours? I found it down by the shore, over there.” A hat is held out towards him.

“No, no— I mean it!” Her hands grasp at her newfound companion’s, never hesitant at showing friendliness to even a stranger; as odd as one might find her behavior to be. Ever so earnest and sincere, she withdraws her hands, if only to be able to pick through other accessories. “It really does look nice on you... having some accessories in your hair might be fun on occasion.” 

“Oh! At least... can I at least help you clean up? You’re bleeding.” Among other things, but it might be more of a miracle that she’s managing to stay calm.

“M-Miss? Hello?” Her voice is soft, tentative— hesitant in trying to get the attention of the other, looking like she’s lost in some other world ( actually, she looks kind of otherwordly, in a way she can’t quite put her finger on ). When eyes meet hers and Tohru is sure she has her attention, she resumes speaking. “Are you okay? You, uhm...” She pauses to gesture to the bag in her hands. “You might drop it? The plastic looks like it’s tearing.”

“Thank you so much, I don’t know what I would’ve done if I’d lost it...” For that matter, when she would’ve noticed that she’d lost it, it might be too late— or so much searching in a city as big as this one. “Can I make it up to you in any way...?”

“Y-Yes! I’m okay!” Her words are spoken with just a slight yelp, eyes darting up towards the stranger ( she hadn’t heard anything like footsteps around, so it might be just a small understatement to say she is startled, if not maybe a little intimidated ). Regardless, she manages to ( mostly ) recover, smiling up at the other. “Was I... spacing out? I’m sorry if I caused you any concern.”

“S...Sorry. I wasn’t paying good enough attention. Are you— I didn’t cause you any problems, did I?”

“Hatsuharu-san!” Her tone is gleeful, is such had not been apparent before in the subtle cheerfulness of her body language, the small bounce in her step. “I wasn’t expecting to find you out here. Are you doing all right?”

“Are you, um... in trouble or something? You were running before this.”
