Finally got diagnosed with atypical PCOS. Which mostly translates to ‘it will be very hard for you to get pregnant & yeah, you should get back to the pill’ in my case. Not worried about the latter at all, the former hit me with a sudden grief. Even though I know it’s not hopeless at all & I’m not planning on having a child now anyway. Makes me very sad/angry that PCOS is very under-researched
My new endocrinologist said that I remind them of Natalie Portman. I am a honorary member of the community of Jewish women who can catfish people into thinking they’re French
“And I guess the big people for me are Nabokov and Flaubert, although Flaubert, he’s a more subtle metafictional artist, and he’s more interested in extractic things, but I’ve always liked that. I like doubling. I like it when there’s another work of art inside the piece of writing, and when there’s some kind of writing on that work of art and in that writing. There might be a scene in which there are people talking, and those people might talk about another book, and then inside of that book, there might be a reference to a landscape, and in the landscape, there’s a little goat, and the little goat is singing a song. And then a gnome comes along and shows the goat an urn, and on the urn there’s… I could go on forever, but I just, I like that. I like that distance, because I find that sometimes I feel sort of imprisoned in life, and it’s great to be able to find that distance somewhere, that sort of infinity.”

Scrolled through Katya Suvorova’s page, the author of ‘Ungrateful immigrant daughter’. Haven’t read it, can’t say anything about the book per se. But so many people from the US in her comments are like ‘Well, it’s really unfair that it happened to you but you still broke the law’. 4 year olds being taken to another continent by force are very famous for breaking the law. Insanity

I was having a mental crisis at Tavrisheskiy Garden, as usual, reading Jung. Got approached by a guy in his 40s, he was with his gf (wife?) and her pregnant friend. They were talking about children, synchronicity (lol) and numbers, & he offered me raspberries. Spent like 30-40 minutes talking about Arts w him. Of course he’s an A__uktyon fan. He was the one to bring it up & I just stared at him for like 10 seconds. If G-d isn’t real then he wouldn’t playfully laugh straight into my face. Invited them to our art centre, since we open again in September. Both him & his gf were pretty hot so I had a small sexual crisis as well. As usual. Unfortunately he seems to be a fan of Ayn Rand but a lot of theatre people from Russia are like this, for some reason.
Properly written texts are like spiders’ webs: tight, concentric, transparent, well-spun and firm. They draw into themselves all the creatures of the air. Metaphors flitting hastily through them become their nourishing prey. Subject matter comes winging towards them. The soundness of a conception can be judged by whether it causes one quotation to summon another. Where thought has opened up one cell of reality, it should, without violence by the subject, penetrate the next. It proves its relation to the object as soon as other objects crystallize around it. In the light that it casts on its chosen substance, others begin to glow.
