When I left high school I was convinced I had been the worst and most embarrassing person that ever went through high school, and for the next few years I would talk about my high school self as if I had been some kind of unforgivable beast (albeit among other unforgivable beasts). Almost a decade later I simply cannot hold that same contempt for myself at that time. And, truth be told, most of the things I felt so ashamed of for saying were usually pretty accurate and well-deserved. What I regret is not saying those things to people’s faces as often as I should have. I will condemn my high school self for being a coward.
