Here you have Dazai who, at 16, is a PM Executive with quite a reputation. Everybody listens to him, despite him being a teenager. Hell, the Port Mafia boss probably takes his advice on a daily basis. And everyone knows Dazai is super intelligent and dangerous. Dazai is used to two things: people listening to him and events going as he has planned for them to go.

Now enter this fuckass kid who does not follow his instructions and will fuck up his plan because he did whatever his head told him at the time.

Dazai is losing braincells. He's getting irritated and mad and he will shoot somebody. No fucking wonder. This kid idolizes him, but also, he just killed two witnesses. "I'll do whatever you want, Dazai-san!" A fucking lie, Dazai told him three times not to barge into that warehouse and what does Akutagawa do??

Chuuya: We're the best thing that's ever happened to you?

Normalize blaming Dazai for being a dick about everything.

Akutagawa brought Kyouka in to keep her off the streets, meanwhile Dazai brought Akutagawa in with ulterior motives and to use him for his own agenda. Akutagawa did not train Kyouka, but Dazai trained Akutagawa. Kyouka had maybe 2 months at most with Akutagawa as her handler (Akutagawa gave her orders on who to kill) meanwhile Akutagawa answered to Dazai directly for 2 years. Akutagawa was happy for Kyouka when she left the Mafia, Dazai continues to use his influence over Akutagawa, continues to manipulate him, continues to hurt him.

They are absolutely not the fucking same.

It seems his newfound morality extends to everyone but the kid he screwed up for absolutely no reason, despite that relationship possibly having been the easiest to fix (back then and even now) yet he can't be bothered.

Wish that meant Mori beat him with a stick, but nooo. Mori probably only was trying to make him into the next boss. And then, Oda was there taking care of him. He even had friends like Ango and even Chuuya. All the Mafia members respected him despite him being a child (like Hirotsu).

I have a bit of a thing for being loyal to most canon about confirmed details so he is 5'8 in my head for the main timeline but honestly, 5'5 Akutagawa makes a lot of sense and I like that hc a lot! It is more realistic imo 5'5 is actually around the average height for a 14yr boy and Akutagawa was likely well below that before joining the mafia it means he would've grown to be the height he should've been as a child which is kinda depressing and I like it.

apparantely, according to the wiki, aku was 5'8 at 16 and never grew which makes no sense considering how small he was compared to dazai(who was still growing!)

He appears to go up to Dazai's shoulder which if Dazai was 5'8 that'd put Akutagawa potentially around 4'8-4'10 at least off the visual. That'd mean he'd have to grow a whole foot in like TWO years.

And absolutely. Dazai has always been depicted as taller than Akutagawa no way they'd be the same height in dark era.

Also oh my goodness he would've been SOO tiny if he was near 4'6. JUST A BABY :(

4'6 is around the average height of a 9-10yr boy that's so devastating..

Assuming Dazai was around 5'6 at 16 they'd look about like this, and that's giving some grace cause as you said, he hardly even reaches his shoulder as Dazai leans forward it's possible he'd look even smaller.
