THE SIMS 2 (2004, dev. by Maxis) đđ
family will die soon if the indiscriminate bombing continues. Israel violates the ceasefire every day, and no one can stop them. Today, as I stood in the hospital treating my mother and father, the hospital was overflowing with casualties. The crossing might open by the end of the week, and it's our only hope for survival. Please donate and share so that my family and I can receive urgent treatment and a stable, safe life. My relative just donated to me, even though he earns a very small salary and lives in Gaza with his family. He understood me because he has experienced the pain and suffering firsthand. I hope everyone will donate, even a small amount like my relative did
From what I've seen lately, after all the news about the ceasefire, no one seems to care, donate, share, or help anymore. Can you change this negative mindset? The war isn't over; that's what they think.

From the suggestion of this post, I wanted to learn more about food insecurity challenges faced by Canadian Inuit, and I decided to compile a post with some information and resources to share. I have no expertise in this area, but I have done my best to choose resources which are from an indigenous or Inuit perspective, and to provide context on the sources I have linked. I welcome any feedback and sincerely apologize if I have missed flaws in these resources.
Organizations to donate to:Â Food Security Initiatives Map From Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK is an organization which seeks to âserve as a national voice protecting and advancing the rights and interests of Inuit in Canadaâ) -Map and filterable list of Inuit food security initiatives -- you can look for one to donate to -I donated to the Niqinik Nuatsivik Nunavut Food Bank
Resources to learn more: A Brief Overview (more in-depth overview under the Read More): Bringing Inuit Food Security and Sovereignty into Canadian Nation-Building Narratives By Jessica Penney, from the Yellowhead Institute, published 2025 (The Yellowhead Institute is a research and education organization which provides indigenous perspectives on policy and educational resources to promote Indigenous practices and philosophies) A Few Key Points: -Co-opting land in Nunavut to address security concerns about the Arctic with militarization ignores the issue of food security and the way promoting food security benefits all -Current food security programs have issues -- i.e. subsidies for food transport not being 100% passed on to the consumer -Food Sovereignty over Food Security: âInuit food sovereignty refers to the rights of Inuit â not just having enough food to meet basic needs â but for Inuit to choose what they eat and how they get their food. This approach would recognize that food nourishes the whole person and community physically, socially, culturally, and spiritually.â (more about food sovereignty below) -Inuit in Canada generally see themselves as Canadians, and have served Canada in various ways; Canada is failing to serve InuitÂ
More on Food Sovereignty: Food Sovereignty and Harvesting From the Qiqiqtani Inuit Association, published in 2019, linked in Bringing Inuit Food Security and Sovereignty into Canadian Nation-Building Narratives (The QIA is a non-profit which represents Inuit in the Qiqiqtani region of Nunavut) A Few Key Points: -Food Sovereignty is âthe right to healthy and nutritious foodâŚculturally appropriate foodâŚfood harvested through ecologically sound and sustainable methods as guided by the Nunavut Agreement and wildlife management regimentâŚaccess wildlife in ways that empower communities and stimulate local economiesâ (page 7) -(The Nunavut Agreement is a land claims settlement. Relevant to the above, it details (among other things) rights to Inuit ownership of certain lands within the Nunavut Territory, use of certain lands within the Nunavut Territory, and joint management of and royalty sharing with the Canadian government of lands and natural resources in the Nunavut Territory. This plain English version of the agreement from ITK was really helpful in understanding it.) -âQIA prefers using the term food sovereignty rather than food security because food sovereignty allows for a culturally and community-minded approach to food management. Food sovereignty incorporates Inuit knowledge, language, culture continuity and community self-sufficiency.â (page 7) -Over 70% of Nunavut Inuit are food insecure vs 8% of Canadians -Food sovereignty not only improves food security but also stimulates a local conservation economy, preserves traditional knowledge, and promotes Inuit culture ---One aspect of Inuit food culture is sharing food with others -There are issues with Canadian government programs, like subsidies for food transport not being 100% passed on to the consumer and lack of support programs and infrastructure for local food and fishing, harvesting, and hunting
Economic Self-Determination: Pinasunniq: Reflections on a Northern Indigenous Economy From the Yellowhead Institute, published in 2024, Linked in Bringing Inuit Food Security and Sovereignty into Canadian Nation-Building Narratives Editors: Kunk Inutiq, Hayden King, Shari Fox -Three-part report on the current economy for Inuit and a âvision of Inuit economic self-determinationâ -Part 1 discusses the current economy, Part 2 traditional hunting and harvesting, and Part 3 âarts and care-based economiesâ
More About Traditional Food and Its Role: Inuksiutut Toolkit From the Yellowhead Institute -âa living collection of resources to support communities across Inuit Nunangat (and beyond) in advancing food sovereignty, community resilience to climate change, and self-determinationâ -Collection of videos showing seal harvesting and preparation and the importance of seal -Several recipes from Inuit cooks -Other resources
Bonus: Inuit Art Foundation -Organization which seeks âto empower and support Inuit artistsâ self-expression and self determination, while increasing the public's access to and awareness of artistsâ workâ -Resource for finding writing, film, visual art etc. by Inuit artists -I found it when I found this article with some suggestions for where to watch Inuit films
A More in-Depth Overview: Inuit Nunangat Food Security Strategy (also linked in Bringing Inuit Food Security and Sovereignty into Canadian Nation-Building Narratives) From ITK, strategy document published in 2021 Summary of the strategy:
Food Insecurity -Food insecurity ranges from ânot being able to afford a balanced dietâ to ânot eating for days at a timeâ (page 11) -Canada committed to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes working to end hunger and poverty, but current and planned programs will likely not achieve that in northern Canada Current Food System -The current food system consists of store-bought foods and locally produced and harvested (both commercial and not) foods -Most store-bought foods must be shipped by air or sea and thus the food system is limited does not reflect local preferences ---âGoods are handled 3â4 times more often before reaching grocery store shelves in Inuit Nunangat than in southern Canadian citiesâ (page 8) -Inuit Nunangat (Nunangat is the Inuit homeland in Northern Canada) exports 18 billion CAD of char, turbot, and shrimp, from mostly Inuit-owned operations but infrastructure does not support commercially harvested food entering the local food system -Country foods (traditionally harvested and hunted foods) save tens of millions of dollars and also fulfill additional cultural and food needs the imported sector cannot -Current food security programs include Inuit-led initiatives from food banks to education programs to community harvesting initiatives, the federal program Nutrition North Canada (NNC): subsidies for food transport (weaknesses identified above in the post), education about nutrition, and grants to support harvesting (largely ineffective), and goals to better support harvested foods and create a school food program (which Canada currently does not have)

I don't think this is being widely covered by national news, but Western Alaska has been devastated by Typhoon Halong. Thousands of people are out of their homes, the coastal Yup'ik villages of Kwigillingok and Kipnuk had 6.6 feet of water above normal. Dozens of people were rescued swimming in icy waters, houses have been ripped off their foundations, one woman is dead, three people are still missing, and most people are sheltering in the community schools. This is a roadless, remote area where it's difficult to get supplies and help in, heading into winter. Consider giving towards the Native-coordinated disaster response sending food and other supplies if you can.
I want to ask for your opinion:
What path should we take next?đđľđ¸
Stay and rebuild in Gaza
Wait and see what happens
Try to leave Gaza for safety and healing
âYour Voice Can Decide Our Next Step After Gazaâs Warâ
Hello my friends,
Youâve been with us through fear, through loss, and through survival. Youâve shared our story, our pain, and our hope, and helped us keep going when everything around us was falling apart.
Today, I ask for something even more personal: your honest opinion, from hearts that care about my children as if they were your own.
We have three options, each one filled with uncertainty, cost, and emotion. Every decision will shape the future of my four children.
Please read the reblogs below; each one explains a possible path: staying, waiting, or leaving. Each path has its reality, its cost, and its kind of hope.
Option 1: Stay and rebuild in Gaza
Pros: Staying in our homeland, close to family and roots. Contributing to the rebuilding of Gazaâs life and identity. Holding on to the land that carries our memories and history.
Cons: There is enormous destruction of homes, schools, and hospitals, and rebuilding could take decades. Access to electricity, clean water, and medical services is very limited. Living among ruins also brings a heavy psychological burden and fear of renewed violence.

If you believe our place is here, rebuilding what was lost, your voice matters. If you can, please support our familyâs recovery journey
Option 2: Wait and see what happens
Pros:Time to observe political changes and possible reconstruction programs. Hope for international rebuilding projects or new humanitarian opportunities. Avoiding the high risks and costs of immediate travel.
Cons:Living in uncertainty, with children growing up amid trauma and displacement. Minimal access to education, therapy, or stable healthcare. Risk that humanitarian attention fades before real help arrives.

If you think waiting is the wiser path, your opinion can guide us through this confusion. You can also help us keep our children safe as we wait for clarity
Option 3: Try to leave Gaza for safety and healing
Pros: Safety, psychological care, and stable education for our children. Access to medical treatment, housing, and social services. A real chance to heal and rebuild our lives away from the trauma of war.
Cons: Very high financial cost and difficult visa procedures. Emotional pain of leaving our homeland and loved ones behind. Uncertainty of where we will end up or how long the process might take.

If you believe starting again elsewhere could give our children peace, your voice can help us take that step. And if you can, please support our journey toward healing and safety
Please help Mohamed & boost!
Help us think and decide â your vote and suggestions can shape the next chapter of my childrenâs lives.
