New Jewelry—Gauging up sucks.

A delicious little hike with a 2 mile trek each way, and various views from atop the summit! Though still cold this time of year, this is the home of the “dwarf woolly meadowfoam” flower, aka “Limnanthes floccosa ssp. pumila”—it grows NOWHERE else! Pretty cool to know there’s quite a bit unique about this place, other than how flat they are!

It’s peak humpback whale season here in the islands—some of the best lookout points for them is Makapu’u point, K-bay, and North Shore towns! I hope to catch another glimpse one of these days🐋

In both indigenous Alaskan & Hawaiian cultures, the whale symbolizes family. The humpback specifically represents a few different things, like grace, good luck, protection & guidance. It’s a beautiful sing-song creature that exhibits beauty and wilderness in every manner of its life.

As I am not indigenous, I went for a realism approach. The whale symbolizes my connection to Alaska & my family, as well as another homage to my time spent in Hawai’i, the friends I have made the things I have learned.

My artist switched the realistic waves to traditional Japanese, and I LOVE it. I think it adds a unique touch, and opened up a new style for me to consider if I ever add on!

She decided to kind of pull a Fred Durst, and honestly, I think she gets that from me and my love for the Bizkit. I’m a real proud mom on that note.
