For everyone lonely or who have lost this holiday season, who is dealing with grief, loss, bad memories, emptiness. I see you. You aren’t alone. 🩷

Abusive Parents
Abusive parents are truly one of a kind. They will literally force you to do things for them, and then claim you don't do anything, you're just a waste, call you slurs and whatnot.
When you try to stand up for yourself and they come at your face and intimidate you with their shoutings and their eyes...you know things can get physical and you would not stand a chance. It's literally one of the worst feelings, to know that you are not old enough to get out, that they can and will physically hurt you and no one will bat an eye. The country I live in, Dominican Republic, encourages people to hit on their children. A form of education, they say.
It does something to you, for real, when you know you can't do shit about anything in those moments.

Home
Home is not just the place we grew up in; it is every place we've been in our past, that we cannot return to. Home is the memories we've made in the good old days that were not so good anyways, home is that wall in school that we used to lean against in between breaks, the patio from our old house, and the little store that is not open anymore, and everything we imagine when we think about the good parts of our past. Home is our best friend, that one loved one -family or not, home is just home.
For me though, home is the road I used to take to go back home from school, my uncle's house and my cousins, late-night soap opera shows with my grandma, my grandpa's house, my History teacher, my first best friend and my current bestie...for me, home is those moments we cannot go back to.

I guess some people just have to hate to feel good about themselves, not because they're evil, but because they don't know otherwise. That doesn't mean it's right.
I can't understand the patience some people have towards the loved ones that hurt them because of their trauma: how do you all do that? How can you not hate them, and create yourself another trauma? How can you love them, and let them project their traumas onto yours?
And how can I not believe in magic, when I already saw it, when I already felt it, when I already loved it?
-M.R.
We are all the same
I think that, deep down, we are all the same. We have to be, otherwise, it wouldn't make sense. I don't say it in a "we are all the same person, this is a sketch" type of way. I say it in a "we are humans, if we think hard enough, we will see the memories of that person we didn't meet but lived" type of way.
I feel like, just the fact that we existed and others too, makes us all the same. It doesn't matter that we are "good" or "bad", we existed before, and if we try, we will remember that house, that market, that tree, that casket. We will remember, and we will be lived again.

When folks say “Protect Lil Nas X” I want you to understand that this is coming from a deep place in queer culture. One of the prime directives of the queer community is to protect young and recently out queer folks. It comes from a place of understanding that coming out is inherently a traumatic process. Being young and queer in a community where queerness is not accepted is inherently traumatic.
It does not matter if the young queer person is annoying or cringe or wearing rainbows from head to toe and transforming themselves into a walking stereotype. That’s part of the process of reclaiming identity for a LOT of people. Sometimes shoving it in people’s faces is the only way you can get over the instinct to cower and conform. It doesn’t matter if they made some off-color jokes while they work through internalized queerphobia. It doesn’t even matter if you like the young queer person much as a person.
You protect them. Because someone protected you. Or because no one was around to protect you, and you know how much that sucked. You see a young person in a gay bar that looks a little lost or nervous, guess what? That’s your child now. Go help them fix their lip gloss and tell them their body glitter is cute and teach them how to tell if someone is giving them the eye from across the room. You see them getting hassled? Take out those earrings, you’re giving someone a smackdown tonight.
The queer community has been so turned against itself in recent years, we’re forgetting our fucking roots. We’re not here to bitch out queer kids for making mistakes while they figure out who the fuck they are. We’re here to throw bricks at cops.
Beautiful, everyone should've read this like, a year ago.
i need y'all to get that headlines about climate change are supposed to spur people to action, and scientists sound the alarm because humanity still CAN do something, not because it's inevitable and Literally Everyone Will Die
Do NOT let people let you forget that our world is still as habitable as it is today because of the work of scientists and activists of the past, that things would be MUCH WORSE now if people hadn't acted.
Remember the ozone hole? Remember that? You haven't heard about that in a little bit huh? THAT'S BECAUSE WE FIXED THE PROBLEM. If no one had done anything, there would be holes in the ozone layer all over the place and we would be slowly irradiated by the sun. THE EARTH WOULD HAVE BEEN UNINHABITABLE BY MIDCENTURY.
Every time you repeat the line that "Unless we end capitalism worldwide, there's literally nothing we can do to help climate change!" the people that devoted their lives to saving species that would be gone now, preserving habitat that would be obliterated now, and fixing problems that would have been well along the way to making us extinct by now beam psychic rays of contempt in your direction
So freakin' true...
