It's wild to watch the phrase "tumblr sexyman" morph into "man that tumblr thinks is sexy," because when I first saw the phrase come into use, I always saw it used in reference to the phenomenon of "when presented with a wide array of fictional characters, tumblr will always pick the skinny white man to obsess over, and if the fan-favorite character has no canonical human appearance, the fandom will inevitably create a popular fanon of the character as as a skinny white man."
When I hear "tumblr sexyman," I think of Cecil Night Vale being constantly depicted as a skinny white man instead of literally anything else. I think of the background character white men who get elevated over protagonists that are women, people of color, or otherwise not the white man power fantasy.
"Tumblr sexyman" is, like. An insult. I DON'T want any of my blorbos to win a "tumblr sexyman" poll. "Tumblr sexyman" is the exact opposite of what I want my own OCs to be. If any of my characters ever get called "tumblr sexyman," I will have to immediately re-evaluate myself and the art I'm making.
the hot chocolate enjoyer when you ask where all the milk is going so fast:
i’ve seen this user post this photo as a sort of reaction image a couple times now and it makes me laugh every time. because this is the incredibly elusive marbled cat and they really do just have a tendency to look so pitiful, guilty, and empty in the head. so here’s some more photos of them looking like there’s just one marble bouncing around their skull:

new version cause tumblr staff hate trans women
#tumblr staff sure do hate trans women but if you make a post containing the word “vagina” containing a cartoon of a vagina#i'm not where you're making shocked pikachu face about it getting flagged
it's barely depicting the vulva (the external hole is visible in ONE panel, from a distance, and otherwise you are only seeing the internal organs), and its clearly health information. calling it a "cartoon of a vagina" is kind of obscuring the specific context of it being a very tame medical diagram showing how to do something that many people do every month starting from middle school.
tumblr's definition of "mature":
What is considered Mature Content? Content not suitable for all ages, including text, images, audio, and videos containing nudity, sexual themes, strong language, or mature subject matter is considered mature. Posts that contain mature content must have a Content Label applied, and it is your responsibility to label your content appropriately. [...] What counts as sexually explicit? Visual depictions of sexually explicit acts or content with an overt focus on genitalia are not allowed on Tumblr. This includes sexual intercourse, masturbation, sexual interactions with toys, and content involving bodily fluids. We also don’t allow content where aroused genitalia is visible or the primary focus, even if partially covered or beneath clothing.
tumblr's official age requirement is 13+ and plenty of 13 year olds use tampons. so there's no reason to me that image isn't suitable for all ages (13 year olds should not be protected from basic sex ed), it isn't sexually explicit, it doesn't even have an "overt focus on genitalia" despite being about genitalia, and the actual post is also just about nonsexually caring for a neovagina. "mature" is very clearly a label meant for erotic content, not non-erotic sexual education.
given there is softcore porn on this website that doesn't get flagged, but a photo of a fat Black woman's clothed back gets flagged, i don't think this is "shocked pikachu face" i think its being rightfully upset at tumblr censoring queer sex ed, again.
Post about increasingly niche stuff that nobody follows you for and barely has a tumblr presence NOW
That indie game no one else has played. That show from the 1980s that isn't big in the pop culture osmosis. Your deep dive into Tudor history. A liveblog of your experience learning C++. Your welding skills. Post all of it. This is your house
People with skin conditions deserve better. People with acne, eczema, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), and other skin conditions do not deserve to be treated like we're contagious or an eyesore. We deserve to be in public and show our skin and not feel ashamed because there is no shame in having a medical condition. We deserve to be free from insensitive questions and unsolicited advice. People with scars, including but not limited to those from burns, surgery, self-harm, injury, illness, and acne also deserve to live life without worrying about rude comments and questions. Don't comment on people's skin, especially strangers'. Even if you think you're being tactful.
sorry I saw a post about AAVE and got fired up and had to make this
