If your argument against gun control goes like this “what if a bad guy has a gun I need one to defend myself” then you’re already stating that a gun is a threat to the safety of those nearby. You’re tickling your ego by thinking you with your gun will be faster and smarter than the bad guy and frankly my life is not worth testing out your bullshit attitude. You already know guns are bad, you just think you with a gun is better. If they shoot you or you shoot them that’s the same number of people killed. This is a terribly invalid point. Drugs are illegal aren’t they? Drugs still exist, don’t they? If guns are illegal then the bad guys are still going to have them regardless, and the good guys won’t. Sure, there is law enforcement. 30 minutes after the 9/11 call they arrive, yet 20 people are dead. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of situations in where a public shooting/robbery has taken place but there was a good guy there with a concealed weapon to stop it.

What kind of gun control were you proposing then? The most popular one would be to limit guns to the public based on caliber. But that doesn't work because assault rifles are a smaller caliber than a basic hunting rifle. So that won't work. The other which is popular in England is to only allow the public to carry pistols but that doesn't help in either of the scenarios I described. You could propose a better vetting process for those looking to own guns but that doesn't stop the people in their homes from getting a hold of them. How would you like to "control" guns? Also not to be rude but talking👏 like 👏 this 👏 hurts 👏your👏argument👏rather👏 than 👏legitimizing👏them. It's pratty and unintelligent

I agree with the premise, guns are bad yes. I wouldn't want to abolish them from the public for multiple reasons. One is for if the government becomes too tyrannical we can rise up and tear it down I believe I can find a good middle ground with you in that we both think our government is a sham. And if we abolish guns and Trump gets it in his head that maybe democracy isn't a good way anymore because he doesn't want to lose power who will stop him? The government would most likely back him because politicians are ultimately corrupt and want more power and money. I know I probably sound like a crazy conspiracy theory theorist but this is just my example of a worst possible senario. Another possible senario is the allowance of rifles for hunting. Our economy isn't the most stable thing in the world and in the event of a collapse our money would only be good for fire tinder. To prevent ourselves from resorting to cannibalism or other more violent things we'd need to hunt. For that we need guns. Now I'm not saying these are fool proof arguments but they are more legitimate than home defense. I just have a regular old knife for that
