Nettles

What is Nettles? Nettles is a personal project of mine. One of my favorite activities is worldbuilding, so I started a project with purpose of creating and detailing a world as much as possible. I really enjoy thinking about the relationships between cats, and how their situations effect them. Nettles focuses around 3 clans called Nightclan, Braveclan and Stormclan. They live in dense forests, and worship Starclan, who they believe is a clan of their ancestors. Except, that Starclan was wiped out years ago, when a greedy magic creature absorbed Starclans souls and continued to take each soul that came to them. Each soul made it more erratic, and each prayer sent its way made it hungry. Its connection was greatest to Nightclan- A secretive, devout clan living in crevices in stone and under cradling willows. When Nightclans senior medic, Stormgrass, appears in a clear Starclan dream for the first time in his life, he is overjoyed, until the creature tries to kill him. He flees back to his clan, howling the truth for all the hear. Stormgrass dies of a heart attack shortly after. The seed of doubt that the respected medic planted in Nightclan was enough to threaten the creature, and it began bringing down tragedy after tragedy to Nightclans cats. Nettlefern is the last surviving Nightclan cat, having ran from camp after her family refused to defend her from the leaders punishment when she started aggravating the other clans. She is homeless for a long time, and only starts to heal when she is on deaths door and is saved by a frustratingly persistent and unfairly pretty kittypet named Sophie.

Example Lesson - A kit is trained on the signs of a bear, and what to do if they see one. An older warrior will often act as a bear for this training. Thai trains scenting, identification and safety in Braveclan territory.

Braveclan is social and defensive. They live in a sparse birch forest, holding the larger pools of water that Nightclans streams lead to. They catch whatever they can get, which is usually either woodland creatures, frogs, salamanders, or medium fish. They have brown bears in their territory, which eat most large fish and will occasionally kill a cat. The bears are also very stinky, and keep intruders away. Since Braveclan knows how to deal with bear encounters, they consider the bears a tradeoff for security in their land. Braveclan is social with other clans, being the clan that is actually kind of friendly with Nightclan and the less paranoid members of Stormclan.

Mousestars death, caused by an incurable illness that slowly drained her lives, was a tragedy (Not caused by the creature) that left the new leader, Applestar, with big pawsteps to fill and a clan that did not fully respect their judgement. Mousestar was absorbed by the creature after death.

Nettlefern is a lithe shorthaired molly with yellow-green eyes. Her fur is primarily an off-white colour, with two patches of orange tabby fur on either side of her upper face. Her left ear is dark grey. She has striped orange and grey tabby fur on her back and on the length of her tail, except for the poofy tip, which is off-white. The bottom half of her rear left leg is missing, with a large scar noting where it used to be. Her face carries a large scar spanning from above her right eye, narrowly between both eyes and down the left side of her muzzle. Her jaw is slightly displaced, causing a snaggle tooth on her left side. Her tongue usually sticks out awkwardly on her right side. Her right ear is split at the tip.

Aspentail, Salamanderpaws brother! They grew up in Braveclan with their dad after their mom died shortly after they were born. After becoming appretices, Salamanderpaw fled the clans, and Aspenpaw was devistated, sticking very close to his father. He was honored for his loyalty at graduation. After a year of being a warrior, Aspentail accompanied his father and a few other cats to create a new clan in the twolegplace. He reconnected with his brother and fell in love with a loner named Patches.
