— I should draw these two interacting more often, especially when they were still working together in the lab in Edenia with Breha assisting in making a cure for Tarkat. They probably had a very ‘walking-on-eggshells’ beginning and Breha probably took him for a guy who smirks too much for his own good. I also can’t imagine how awful she feels when Shang extracts marrow from the tarkatans. Still, I like them together too much and I can’t wait to make more + the angst that comes with their doomed romance. UGH! they are my pookies

It’s also kinda crazy how Breha is lowkey older than Shang because of her Edenian heritage. ANYWAY BYEE

My designs for an AU where Shang and Breha meet in their late teens! 👫☀️

In this AU, Breha visits that Outworld village with her mentor, and she bumps into Shang as he’s running away from stealing some ointment to treat this nasty gash he got from an accident with a blunt dagger he found. Seeing the wound, Breha tries to stop him from fleeing, but he brushes passed her and heads toward his rickety caravan, — the same one from his intro in MK1– and being a healer in training, she followed after him, ducking through the forest in hopes to help.

She finds him sat on the steps of his caravan, attempting to tend to his wound with what little supplies he has, which is a small scrap of cloth and the ointment he stole. Breha shyly greets him with an awkward wave, telling him she can help. Shang Tsung distrusts this, but her attire captures his notice. He realizes she’s not from around here the more he analyzes her. He’s about to protest when a spike of pain shoots through the wound. The gash goes deeper than he realizes.

Breha insists to help, explaining her role and closing the distance between them, her smaller hands held out, revealing the wam glow of magic emanating from her palms. Shang Tsung reluctantly extends his hand, already wondering about where she came from, and if she had anything valuable on her. Breha tends to his wounds with her magic and they ‘accidentally’ spend the afternoon together, with Breha prying about Shang’s life until she eventually is called away by her mentor.

They exchange goodbyes through lingering glances. Breha thinks he’s kinda cute for a street rat, and Shang Tsung is left wondering about her magic, *and* how much money might be in the coin pouch he nicked from her pocket.

They’re making up, don’t worry! ☕️Thank you Bridgerton season 4 ost for the inspiration.

As you all know, Breha is well known in Edenia for being a powerful and intelligent healer, and so when Mileena is infected with tarkat, she is contracted privately to check on/study the princess a few months before Shang Tsung starts working for Sindel.

Because Breha has been a little suspicious of him, it takes a while for her to warm up to him. Of course— and as always— Shang Tsung’s charisma gets to her, and Shang doesn’t realize he too is a little in too deep, masking his growing feelings for her as him just doing what he can to keep her from learning his and Quan Chi’s plans, and that he may as well enjoy the entertainment and benefits of their relationship.

SO while Breha and Shang get closer, it leads to banter, and occasional arguments that only ends with them ‘making up’. Wink wink. He always gets under her skin and I like to think that makes their doomed romance so much more fun and interesting to explore when Shang is inevitably revealed as a traitor, resulting in their separation, and she’s forced to take over his work alone.

I don’t know when I’ll open for these kinds of comms, so it’ll depend on whenever I finish the sheet.

I recently rewatched FMAB again and my fixation is back. It really is my favorite anime in the world!! I have a ton of old drawings of just Ling and Greed, so I wanted to try and redraw them again just to see.

edit: I posted this a few days before it was announced that his 1995 and Mk11 actor, Cary Hiroyuki Togawa passed away… which makes me feel a little sad whenever I look at this art.

Shang and Breha’s first kiss probably went like this— He knows it would make it easier to manipulate her this way but he also lowkey wants to but doesn’t wanna admit it yet.

Also this kinda looks like the ‘Hasn’t kissed anyone else ever’ and ‘expecting tongue’ meme. 😭
