It took me a while to watch the continuation of "Betty, La Fea" (I didn’t want to subscribe to Amazon Prime).
But even though I tried to find another way to watch it, it wasn’t possible, so I had to watch it there.
I’ve been a big fan since 2002, the year it aired here in Brazil. I was 13 years old and became addicted to the show.
Since then, I’ve always tried to learn more about it, and I managed to watch, unfortunately, not all the episodes of Eco Moda. This soap opera/series never aired here in Brazil.
And imagine my happiness when I saw that Amazon Prime was going to produce new episodes continuing the story.
Just to give a preview, yes, I liked it. There are both good and bad points.
Even with different sets, the absence of some characters, the essence of "YSBLF" is still there.
All the actors managed to revive the traits of their characters, even after many years.
Ana Maria and Jorge, of course, still have the same chemistry from 20 years ago.
I’ve rewatched "YSBLF" a few times, and as I’ve gotten older (I’m 35 now!), I can no longer romanticize Armando’s behavior toward Betty.
I think that in this new version, they tried to ‘correct’ things, like his constant drunkenness and excessive jealousy.
But what caught my attention the most was an episode where Roberto says that, up until that point, Armando hadn’t done anything because he was always waiting for Betty to save Eco Moda.
And that’s one of the greatest truths!
I didn’t like the two were separated, but it worked for the drama. I also don’t see how they’re going to solve the issue of paying the employees and save Eco Moda in the second season.
Mila really turned out to be the daughter I imagined she would be. Spoiled because she’s rich, but with traits from both her parents, especially the characteristic laugh of Betty, which I loved.
There are some plot holes, but unfortunately, that’s part of it.
I missed all the actresses from the "cuartel". I didn’t understand why Betty’s mom had to die.
But the most important thing is how the series could bring back the comedic spirit, especially in the fights between the almost "cuartel " and Patricia. And Fred was funny as always!
In the end, watching the continuation of 'Betty, La Fea' was both a nostalgic and exciting experience. Despite the changes and challenges of a new season, the essence that made the series so special remains intact.
