Ok so lets put this character idea to page.

Pipsqueak - Pip as their friends came to call them - is a short human gap-touched. They're like 155cm, 160 at most. Pale greenish hair, if we're going with an anime aesthetic, probably just black if not. Said hair is braided in a single braid of nonsensical length, twisting dynamically behind them in action shots.

They're afflicted by this strange supernatural ailment where they're slowly being forgotten by everyone they interact with as fate itself dissolves behind them. Or at least that is the way they would explain it to you - not that you'd remember it by tomorrow.

Pip is loud and rowdy making trouble and letting everyone know it. Not in an asshole way, we are looking at heroes after all, but certainly in a manner that disrupts the status quo as much as possible, to desperately, desperately leave an impression in the minds of others.

Dumb stupid shounen personality.

To deal with this affliction - and to deal with any trouble coming their way - they utilize a mechanical suit. A mix between exoskeleton, medical stasis chamber, mecha, and armour. In the suit, dearest little tiny pipsqueak stands 210cm tall.

> ENGINE INFUSION: [GRAVITON] OVERDRIVE. REBALANCING. > PENDULUM FALLS: [PHOTON] COLLECTION ENGAGED.

> COOLING SYSTEMS CRITICAL. EJECTING PLASMA BUILDUP.

Now that I think about it, voice lines for HP status and conditions would make sense too.

At ~75% ish.

Dess isn’t real. She’s Noelle’s childhood alter ego. All 5 mentions of her by other people are made up and it is all an elaborate effort of the hometown residents to keep Noelle’s fantasy alive. Carol keeps a fake room full of things that “Dess” enjoyed.

All of Noelle’s memories of Dess and the anecdotes she tells are things she did herself or straight up lies.

why did this happen to noelle?

She was a little girl with some maldaptative behaviors, and some of them involved harming her loved ones, like Kris. in order to cope with the dissonance of her actions with her perception of self as the innocent daughter, she reinterpreted her bad traits as a new persona called Dess. Remember that after using the Snowgrave spell on Berdly in chapter 2’s weird route, she acts all weird and confused. This shows Noelle has a tendency to block bad actions that she did from her mind.

god it's hard to tell because of the lighting here, but her expression when she thanks Kris for walking her home is so loving it hurts.
