I understand why papyrus has a scar on his neck but why did sans lost his hand?

Is it related to the genocide route that happened before the deletion or did he lose it after it?

Simply, since the player increased the monsters' health, including Sans, by making changes to the game code, they were able to deal much more damage to him than what we do in the game at the end of the battle. For us, these are just pixels on the screen, while for the characters, everything is real, which is what I ended up writing, exaggerating the injuries the bosses sustained. Papyrus only has a scar on his neck because the human didn’t bother with him for long during the playthrough, and they didn’t touch his code as such, since they didn’t consider fighting him interesting. So, after the false reset, all that remains on him is a scar on his neck. While Sans struggled for longer, he ended up with more obvious signs of the past run (in the old doodles he lost his both arms, but I decided it would be too much to leave him without both arms, so now he only has one arm left). Otherwise, the battle with him hasn’t changed: karma still works the same way, and he can still dodge until he gets tired. But this time, when he falls asleep and the player attacks him, he doesn’t die right away, and the battle simply continues until his health is completely depleted.
