or rather, all the fanfics I’ve written for legend of zelda along with WIPs that are being worked on.
Also, as you’ll see, the last three fics are based on requests, which I am still accepting.
completed fics:
Excuses
My most popular story I would say, this was written as a joke to myself. Still find it funny that it was twilight princess zelink that got the first novel length fanfiction from me just because I haven’t actually played the game myself (just watched a playthrough). Probably my spiciest story just because of the aforementioned bad jokes I include in it.
PG-13
Summary: Queen Zelda has a problem. She may, sort of, have a crush on her chosen hero. Maybe crush isn't the right word, as she's pretty sure she's in love. Love? What does she know about love? She's just being silly, surely this is a phase that will pass or she would have to get over it, because unfortunately, Link does not feel the same way.
She knows that, because she's been super obvious with her feelings, so surely if he felt the same way he would've said something, right? It's not like she'd been trained from a young age to mask her own emotions and perhaps has a warped view of what counts as "obvious".
(or rather, Zelda is thirsting something bad, but doesn't realize what is obvious to her, isn't obvious to everyone else)
How Link Gained and Lost the Key to his Senior Thesis Paper
This was written for a fic exchange and me trying out a side of the zelda fandom I don’t normally go to, which is to say “linked universe.” still don’t know a ton about it as a concept, but this was fun. It absolutely wasn’t me channeling a lot of frustration with school into a fanfic.
PG
Summary: After Link hits a timeshift stone that sends him thousands of years into the future, he has to work with a Link of that time to find a way back. Queue bus rides, stares, a sparing match, and Link being mistaken for a wax statue while participating in a museum heist.
Ocarina of Time if the Ocarina got Broken
Ocarina of time is honestly my favorite for reading fanfictions just because there’s so much room for drama. This was my fix-it fic as I tried to find the happy medium between trying to do the right thing and reaping the awards of victory. also got to write a sappy teen romance scene, so that’s always nice.
Also someone commented “more like Brokerina of TIme” and I almost changed the title to that.
PG
Summary: Basically the title. What if in the final conflict, the Ocarina of Time was destroyed, stopping Zelda from being able to send Link back in time (to the relief of both). They attend the party later and are able to talk about the future a little bit.
10000 BC
My baby, my beloved. Inspired by Yasmeensh’s fanart, I decided to write another novel length story based on whole “ten thousand years before calamity” concept.
PG-13
Summary: 10000 years before calamity, there was another calamity. There were another Hero and Princess too, and they did battle alongside the Divine Beasts against Ganon. With their advanced technology and teamwork, they were able to seal Ganon and bring a peace that would last until the events of Breath of the Wild.
Princess Zelda is the second child of the king and queen, and struggling to improve her powers to where they could be of use. Link is an orphan who grew up in the Hebra mountains, and was recognized as the next Hero after his defeat of an ice witch. What starts out as a tentative friendship turns into a bond to last a lifetime as they grow up amidst hardships and tragedy. Only through teamwork and the new Sheikah technology will they find the key to defeat Ganon.
Aren’t you a little young for war?
first entry for Zelink week 2022
PG
Summary: After Queen Zelda goes missing after the first attack from Cia's forces, a mysterious warrior named Sheik appears. After a battle, Link contemplates if he's completely ready for the responsibilities of commanding an army. written for day two of Zelink week 2022 for the prompt Age.
The ways rainy nights change and the ways they don’t
Second entry for Zelink week 2022
PG
Summary: The first time Link and Zelda experience a real rainstorm on the surface. Some things change, others don't. Written for day three of Zelink week 2022 for the prompt Rainy Days.
Verbal Sparring
Third entry for Zelink week 2022. If you liked excuses, you’ll probably like this one.
PG-13
Summary: Link marvels on Zelda’s verbal sparring and how his place as her plus one gives him a great seat for it.Written for day 5 of Zelink week 2022, Sparring.
Skyward Sword “secret” relationship
Originally posted as a response to this ask.
PG
Summary: A one shot based on the prompt: What about something where Link and Zelda try to hide their relationship (but everyone knows they are together anyway)? :)
I decided to go with pre-Skyward Sword, just because I’d never never seen a secret relationship fic for them done before.
Zelink Tangled AU
Originally posted as a response to this ask.
PG
Summary: A one shot based on the prompt: please write a zelink tangled au fic 🥺🥺🥺
Basically that^Just the opening scene where adventurer Link accidentally meets Zelda who's never left her tower.
Sneaking Away
Originally posted as a response to this ask.
PG
Summary: Based on the ask: Perhaps you could write something featuring ZeLink sneaking away. I’ll leave the circumstances and the game pair to you! Basically in an adult timeline, Link sees a shadow sneaking away into the gardens where he first met the princess all those years ago. They have another life changing conversation.
WIPS:
(as in, they are technically started, but not really any where close to finishing, but I wanted to share because I like them and felt this list was too short)
Hyrule Warriors one shots
I have two-ish one shots based in hyrule warriors. One is based on a crossover, and one is where Linkle is Link’s little sister. I’m trying to keep it to one shots, but they probably need more context than what I have and so I keep procrastinating working on them.
BotW 40 minute play though
Basically the story implications of a 40 minute play through of BotW where Link heads immediately to the castle. It’s basically just Link being sort of feral but supportive and Zelda blushing and crying. Sort of a long shot, in that I don’t plan on covering every memory and such, but I do want to hit some highlights.
Brother Bear 2 AU
So I don’t know if anyone has seen brother bear two, but it’s basically where this chick is trying to get married, but in the eyes of the spirits she’s already married to Kenai (from the first movie) who was her childhood friend and is now a bear. So she has to travel with him to a water fall and burn this necklace to sever that bond (and they fall in love along the way).
So it’s that, but Zelink. an original zelink because Ocarina of time zelink was the only one that might work, and their dynamic was off from what I wanted. Nice part about legend of zelda I think, is the freedom to world build.
This story will also be a monster multichapter story. which means idk when it will come out.
Skyward Sword fluff
just that. I was playing skyward sword and thought it would be interesting if Link wrote letters to Zelda about his journey and then she read them after the fact.
Ocarina of Time arranged marriage
Inspired by another fic, but basically oot Link and Zelda end up in an arranged marriage. Zelda is conflicted because on one hand, she’s in love with him, on the other, he seems to be dealing with things that he won’t tell her about. (a child timeline Link is dealing with trauma and his confusing feelings about his princess)

Oh yeah, this happened a little while ago, but it was so funny.
So I was on a work trip, and roomed with my supervisor and another coworker. We decided to go on a starbucks run one morning and got talking about the new Zelda movie because I think I was talking about super mario galaxy's soundtrack, and my supervisor thought I was talking about the movie. Which lead to me saying, "I hope the new zelda movie is good though."
To which my coworker agrees, but apparently didn't know the casting of Link and Zelda had been announced, or that we had some images of the costumes. As, we were all trying to speculate on what aspects of the games it was going to adapt, all agreeing that we hoped it wasn't just BotW because its popular and recent.
So then my coworker is like, "I just hope that it doesn't make Link and Zelda a couple."
And I'm sitting there thinking 'She doesn't know I got into LoZ specifically because of Zelink...' and I maybe said "Well, agree to disagree." or something to that effect and the conversation moved on.
But like, it's still so weird to me when people look at something like LoZ and go "No, the hero and the princess shouldn't definitively get together in one version of canon."
I'm trying to think of a franchise where I'd be concerned about it pairing up the leads in a new continuity, and I think the only one would be GiJoe. As, I ship Scarlett and Snake Eyes (due to the renegades cartoon and original comic), but obviously the original cartoon paired up Scarlett and Duke. Weirdly, the live action movie paired up Scarlett and Ripcord. I've not watched any of the GI Joe movies past the first live action one because like... why would I? but even if a new one was coming out, I don't think I'd even think to say "Oh, I hope they don't pair Scarlett and Duke!" even if I do feel that way. As much of a shipper I am, the shipping tends to happen in the aftermath of something I like, not in the midst. (unless, again, it's LoZ, and the zelink comic is the reason I got into it in the first place)

Origin of an Heirloom (Zelink Week 2026 Day 6: Heirloom)
And now for the final work for Zelink Week 2026 @zelinkcommunity!
This SS Zelink fic has made me want to rip my hair out ever since May 1st. It's very rushed, and something about it just seems...off. But I really wanted to try the idea I had about writing it, so I did my best. Like "Nothing in the Dark", this was originally going to be a one-shot, but I got carried away again...
It's nearly been a year since Demise was sealed away, and when Zelda had decided she wanted to stay on The Surface, so did Link, and everyone else in Skyloft, for that matter! Link has been very busy helping everyone, but eventually notices that Zelda has suddenly become very distant from him. Can he find out what's been eating at her? And more importantly, what is he going to do about it?
The fic is three chapters long, so I can't post it all here (head to my AO3!), but the first chapter is below the cut!
Once again, absolutely HUGE thanks @stingingcake for beta-reading this fic and a special thanks @mailrebel for helping me out with some crucial parts regarding the plot!
The Chirris fled the forest floor as Link rushed through the trees on his russet mount.
Leaning forward, he spurred the animal to accelerate. The ground shook behind him. More tiny wings fluttered in panic. He could barely hear the blood roaring in his ear over his racing heart. Winding past the copious tree trunks, he tried to ignore both sensations, ducking his head to avoid hitting the boughs above.
Alarm sparked in his chest as a black and red blur crept into his vision. His pursuer was catching up to him.
But Link kept his gaze ahead. The wooden arch was coming into view.
Just a little farther…
But suddenly Groose’s horse gave a groan, and began to hop excitedly.
Link laughed as Groose moaned in exasperation, clinging to the reins as the hotblooded steed began to toss his head. The race was over.
Allowing his rouge mare to slow, Link glided to a gentle stop in front of the settlement’s welcoming arches.
“These horses just don’t listen!” Groose complained. He managed to calm his horse enough to achieve a steady walk.
Link snorted.
“Sure, the horse is not listening…” he murmured.
Groose narrowed his glowing amber eyes, pursing his thick lips.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“You pulled his reins again, didn’t you? Parrow said not to pull on the reins while asking them to go faster; it makes them confused,” Link gently chided.
Groose pouted wistfully.
“My Loftwing always understood me…”
“Your Loftwing had a matching pompadour.”
Groose’s only reply was a dry frown.
They walked their horses through the small, yet lively settlement, the residents going about their day just as if they never left Skyloft. Pipit and Karane silently stood guard on either ends of the arches, both having declined to patrol on horseback, but ever so often would steal amused glances from each other. At the small communal pool of water, Henya and Greba kneeled side-by-side doing laundry, their voices lost in endless gossip. Even the Bazaar tent had been brought down and erected, though less frequent winds meant the sides of the tent were often rolled up to avoid overheating. There, Luv and Bertie could be seen experimenting with Surface plants and insects in their potions, their young child sitting on the floor nearby playing with her toys. Though she had grown old enough to sometimes try and toddle away, and Bertie frequently paused his work to check on her.
All offered greetings when the pair passed by, and Link politely returned each one, but Groose kept his glower forward.
Link rolled his eyes and shook his head. Yes, some things truly never changed.
“You really had me there, you know. You two were flying!” he said reassuringly.
Groose brightened at this. He brought a hand to his forehead.
“As much as it pains me to admit it,” he said with feigned defeat before switching to a genuine grin, “You beat me to it, buddy.”
Link returned his smile before Groose suddenly leaned forward with intrigue. “But seriously,” he started, “how do you do it? Your horse doesn’t try to buck you off…”
“You’re the one who picked the stallion.”
“Parrow said he’s the only one who can handle long distances. He also told me I need to be assertive with him.”
Link ran a soothing hand across his mare’s neck.
“You need to be direct; give him clear commands. You also should focus on his body language; you can’t push him when he’s getting fussy.”
Groose scoffed, giving him a sly glance.
“You’re one to talk about body language…”
Link cocked his brow at him.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Poor Zelda was practically throwing herself at you, and you couldn’t even take a hint!”
Link furrowed his brow, hands tightening around the reins.
“What are you talking about?”
Groose looked at him curiously.
“You seriously mean to tell me you hadn’t noticed her blushing constantly around you, or patting you on the arm, or sitting with her knees touching yours, or asking to come with you to gather food? She’s totally into you, man!”
Link froze, leaning away with a jerk. He pondered the time they spent at the beginning of their new life on the Surface. His wide eyes blinked rapidly as he tried to find any truth in Groose’s words.
His horse suddenly slowed down, and Link realized he had been holding the reins too close to himself. He shook his head and urged the mare forward, who caught up to Groose’s horse with a whinny as she tossed her head.
“No–she’s always been affectionate like that…” he stammered. “Though she stopped doing stuff like that a few months ago…”
He let his thoughts drift to the present, feeling a pang of grief.
“It’s actually been a while since I’ve spent time with her…” he murmured, his voice pensive and low.
Groose sighed dramatically and leaned over to pat Link’s shoulder.
“If only you had a way with girls as much as you have a way with horses.”
“Well I hope I have a way with this invention as much as Link has a way with horses,” a familiar voice suddenly interrupted.
Gondo was hanging around his scrap shop.
“You got me my ore, Link?”
Link and Groose dismounted to hand the craftsman pocketfuls of Eldin ore.
“How’s it coming along?” Groose inquired.
Gondo thoughtfully tapped the metal mask covering his forehead.
“I haven’t quite gotten the firing mechanism to work just yet, at least not without it blowin’ up in my face. But I have been able to experiment with the ores; each one produces a different color when it explodes. Mark my words, gentlemen, this celebration will be in lights of all hues! I just need to find a better way to ignite them, and I’m gonna need a lot of metal once I’ve cracked it!”
Groose drew himself up proudly.
“Mark my words, Gondo. You won’t be needing that robot anymore once I have these railroads installed! Link and I made good progress today, you know!”
“Well, we’ll just see about that!” Gondo teased.
Link chuckled as the men chattered about their handiwork, letting their conversation leave his ears as he glanced around the settlement. Zelda was nowhere in sight. But he couldn’t just let his questions about her vague and isolating behavior go unanswered.
“What’s the matter, Link?”
Link suddenly heard Groose’s voice, and turned to see the men looking at him with bright, yet concerned eyes.
“Has anyone seen Zelda?” he asked.
Groose cocked his eyebrow, flashing a mischievous smirk. Link returned his expression with an indignant glare.
“Last I saw her, she was headed off towards Faron Woods,” Gondo replied.
Link gave Gondo a grateful nod. Leaving Groose to stable the horses, he bade the men farewell, setting himself in Zelda’s direction.
Picking his way through the lush vegetation, he kept his eyes peeled for any signs of her. Though instead the sign came in the form of a distant strum of a harp. The soothing melody beckoned Link deeper into the woods, and as he approached a clearing, it began to be joined by stark, whistling notes. Following the sounds, he arrived at a grassy plateau, on which was a small hollow tree which would sometimes house the resident Kikwis.
And there they all were in a half-circle, Bucha sitting with his back to the tree, Machi at his left side, and the others seated in a line on his right. The Kikwis on the right took turns singing in their high-pitched voices, Bucha punctuating their chirps with his bass tones. Machi was producing the fair sound Link had heard with an unfamiliar wooden instrument he held in his mouth. And right next to him, strumming out those golden notes with the Goddess’s Harp, sat Zelda.
The afternoon sun had crowned her soft hair with rays, rendering it as gilded as the harp, whose strings she plucked at with swift yet dainty fingers. Her eyes were shut in concentration, yet a small smile graced her lovely face, no doubt losing herself in the harmony surrounding her. The peaceful sight calmed Link’s heart, a crooked grin tugging at his lips. Until suddenly she opened her eyes, her azure gaze quickly finding him.
“Link!” she cried.
The small band halted their singing and playing, getting up to merrily greet Link as he climbed onto the plateau. The young Kikwis cooed at him, speaking all at once and pulling on his hands and tunic like a horde of excited children. Only with a grunt from Bucha did they allow him some space.
“Welcome again, Link,” Bucha rumbled. “Did you enjoy our performance? Zelda has sure helped us a lot with her sound, and Machi has been delighted to have someone play alongside his ocarina.”
Machi blew into his instrument so it let out a small “toot!”, inciting a giggle from Zelda.
“The pleasure is all mine, Elder Bucha,” she said bashfully.
Pride had begun to swell in Link’s chest, but a nagging thought plagued his mind. He nodded politely at Bucha before leaning towards Zelda.
“Could I talk to you about something?” he whispered.
She lifted her eyebrows, seemingly in concern, but nodded.
And so the pair said goodbye to the Kikwis, walking back towards the settlement.
They moved quietly for a while, hearing only the wind rustling the leaves. Not an unfamiliar activity for the two to partake in; Link often enjoyed walks with his best friend even if they didn’t speak a word, the act of just being in her presence enough to put him at peace. But there was a strange and unwelcome sensation hanging in the air between them. It seemed to make Zelda finger the strings on the harp and keep her eyes looking at anywhere but him. Not wanting to have it linger any longer, Link uncharacteristically broke the silence.
“What was that instrument Machi was playing? An ocarina?” he inquired.
Zelda nodded.
“Yes, it’s sort of like a flute. Machi says he carved it himself.”
Link waited for her to say more, but she kept unusually quiet.
“...Seems like he really likes playing it with you,” he murmured awkwardly.
Zelda let out a soft chuckle at this, and he felt relief seep into his heart.
“Yes…I wonder how long he’s been the only one with an instrument.”
“Well then, it’s a good thing you’ve joined him,” he said lightly.
She flashed him a coy smile before breathing a content sigh.
“But it sounds so lovely…I would like to play it myself one day, if he’d allow it.”
Link returned her warm expression. “Let me know if he does; I’d love to watch you play.”
Zelda looked away again; was that a blush on her face?
“I–If we can find the time with all this bustling about,” she stuttered.
They had reached the settlement, and she gestured to the villagers moving around them.
“Yeah, we’ve been pretty busy since everyone else came down, huh?” Link murmured. “When was the last time we just, hung out?”
Thought clouded Zelda’s eyes, and for a moment her eyebrows turned up in thinly veiled distress. She exhaled sharply with a quick shake of her head.
“What was it you wanted to talk to me about, Link?” she said with a tightness in her voice.
Frustration rising in his throat, he let out a sigh. He turned so that he was facing directly in front of her, stopping her dead in her tracks.
“That. Even in the beginning, we still found time to spend with each other. You’ve been acting a little…weird, you know.”
“I’m afraid I don’t understand.”
Link stared at her with a scrutinizing glint in his eye.
She spoke the words clearly yet was refusing to look at him, almost sheepishly clasping her hands together and swaying gently from side to side. A particular memory tickled Link’s mind; that she had only done this once before…
“Do you remember that day of the Wing Ceremony?” he asked softly.
“How could I ever forget?” she snorted dryly.
“You were acting weird that day, like how you are now and when we first came here.”
“I’m telling you, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she stated calmly, yet her eyes began to frantically dart around. Link’s memories surfaced, and he turned each one over carefully, searching for clues that could explain her mysterious behavior. At last one particular detail came to him.
“Yes…you were going to tell me something, but then Ghirahim’s tornado…what was it you wanted to–”
“Oh, Mallara,” Zelda suddenly interrupted, looking across the beaten street.
Link followed her gaze to glimpse the older woman sitting at one of the benches he had helped Jakamar fashion, slowly sewing what appeared to be a banner.
“She started working on that banner months ago. There’s no way she’ll be finished in time for the celebration,” she sighed. “Let me see if I can lend her a hand. I’ll talk to you later, Link!”
Before Link could say anything, she cheerily crossed the road to where Mallara sat. Disappointment furrowed his eyebrows; had she even noticed her arms were still occupied with the harp? She hadn’t even bothered to ask him to put it away for her.
Link sighed and shook his head, now walking forlorn down the alleyways.
“So how’d it go?”
Link leapt backwards into a wall with a yelp, as Groose suddenly appeared around a corner.
“How’d what go?!” Link spluttered, trying to regain his composure.
“Feelings? Zelda? Remember? Weren’t you just talking to her about it?” Groose asked, excitement lacing his voice.
Link rolled his eyes, letting out an exasperated sigh.
“She has no feelings for me.”
“What makes you so sure?”
Link took a deep breath, feeling something drag his eyelids and the corners of his mouth down.
“Ever since she stopped acting the way you were talking about, she’s been refusing to hang out with me. I think she’s doing it on purpose–”
“She’s probably just overwhelmed with everything that’s going on,” Groose tried to reason.
Link vigorously shook his head.
“More than how it was when everyone else came down?! Even if we had to work from dawn until dusk, she always made time for us. For me.”
He brought his gaze down to his clasped hands.
“It was always better when we worked together, anyway…”
Groose began to snicker in amusement, distracting Link from his melancholy. He stifled his laughter when he noticed Link’s confused expression.
“Sorry…but it’s all so ironic!” he chortled.
“What’s so ironic?” Link snarled.
“You like Zelda, Link.”
Link’s eyes shot wide open, his annoyance dissolving in an instant.
“I–I do not!” he stammered, feeling his cheeks warm.
Groose leaned toward him with a dry stare.
“What else do you call it when a guy fights a literal demon to protect a girl and then uproots his whole life just for her?”
Link fell silent, sheepishly scratching the back of his head.
“And the last time I’ve seen you this hurt over something she did was when she…” Groose added softly.
Link faced away from him, the painful memory of Zelda falling into a centuries-long slumber invading his mind. Hugging his arms, he compared his terror at the thought of her possibly never waking to his distress at the thought of her going as far as making up excuses to avoid spending time with him.
Could it really be?
No; she was his best friend, to be loved without the expectations of romance.
“Well even if I did like her…I don’t think she wants me anymore,” he sighed.
Groose rested a sympathetic hand on his shoulder.
“Now, come on. You two have been close for ages. I don’t know what’s going on with Zelda, but I’m sure she still cares about you…” he murmured. “The question is, what are you going to do about all this?”
Link racked his brain for something he could do to remedy his predicament, like he always could since he first landed on the Surface.
Nothing in the Dark (Zelink Week 2026 Day 3: A Quiet Moment)
Hello! It feels so good to be participating in Zelink Week again @zelinkcommunity! This TP Zelink fic was originally going to be a one-shot, but I got a little carried away, and it ended up being more multi-chaptered practice!
The Kingdom of Hyrule has long been restored to peace after the upset that was the Twilight Invasion, but Princess Zelda has mysteriously developed a fear of the dark. Link eventually finds out about this, and decides to help her overcome her fear, eventually leading to a quiet moment between the two.
This fic is three chapters long, so I can't post it all here (head to my AO3!), but the first chapter is below the cut!
Absolutely HUGE thanks @stingingcake for beta-reading this fic!
I was just ascending the stairs to my bedroom when I heard something scuttle at my back.
I turned around, but my candle could not brighten the void behind me. I stretched out my arm. The darkness did not retreat, still swallowing up the tower walls and stairs.
I faced forward and continued to plod upwards. The candle I held only lit up an arm’s length all around me; a tiny cross-section of the corridor moving as I did. I looked the narrow walls up and down, expecting the glassless tower windows to invite beams of moonlight to illuminate the passage.
But as I continued, no windows appeared, even when I knew I had seen them there. Confusion flashed through me; I should have reached the doors by now. Not knowing what else to do, I kept climbing the stairs.
A low rumble echoed past my ears.
I spun around, but the lower stairs were still shrouded in complete blackness, my candlelight doing nothing to lighten any area past the steps I was on.
My blood ran cold when the noise coming from the corridor rose in volume. The low growl was his sinister laughter.
I turned to run.
My lead-weighted feet hardly moved up the steps.
A choked cry sounded behind me.
For a moment, everything was still. The silence was suffocating.
Then I felt something rushing me.
My heart pounded as I jolted awake, coming to a dawn-lit room.
Immediately I threw my bedsheets aside and bounded up to one of the two windows lighting up my bedroom. Peering through them, I could discern the castle guards still standing dutifully on their assigned posts, dim figures that hadn’t yet been touched by the new morning's light. Staring straight ahead, I could see the sun had come to rise with me, a bright golden beam just above the horizon. Looking to the sky, the night was beginning to blush cerulean, the clouds putting on their silver linings.
I let out a long sigh, letting my forehead rest against the glass.
A knock sounded at the chamber doors.
“Your Highness? Are you awake?” my maid called.
I took a deep breath and gave my head a quick shake. That wasn’t the first nightmare I had dreamed since the Twilight Invasion, and it likely wouldn’t be my last. But either way, I had yet another busy day to attend to.
First my ladies helped dress me out of my nightclothes and into a gown, then I headed down to the castle chapel to pray. Then it was a lonely breakfast followed by one meeting after the next, then up to my room to diminish as much of the paperwork piled on my desk as I could manage.
Only then, when there wasn’t a soul nearby, could I let myself slump in my chair, idly twisting my pen, in some cases distractedly tracing the grains of wood. Every miserable hour crawling by feeling like a day…
But then somehow enough time passes to allow a tea break, and to leave me with my own devices.
And I didn’t want to waste a single precious second.
Breathing in the stagnant air with a smile, I took a folded pile of unfinished clothing into my arms. Reclining into my armchair, I began to swiftly sew the soft planes of cloth into shirts, pants, and dresses, sighing against the warmth that radiated from the hearth. By the time the colors of my room grew faded with shadow, I had finally finished my work, and with it I carefully began to make my way outside. Picking my way through the rooms, halls and walkways, I was able to get to the castle’s almonry without anyone intervening with my quest.
The Royal Almoner’s eyes widened upon seeing me approach.
“Why, Your Highness, this is a surprise,” he exclaimed in his aged, gravelly voice. “What brings you to the almonry?”
Letting a small smile show on my face, I extended the clothing towards him.
“I think I would like to deliver my donations personally from now on.”
He took them from my arms almost reverently, thoughtfully sifting through the pile and thumbing the material. Wrinkles formed around his beady eyes as he softly grinned.
“Such lovely handiwork; those in need are grateful for your humble charity, Your Highness.”
I clasped my hands, allowing my eyes to brighten, and I couldn’t resist a slightly wider smile.
“Perhaps one day, I shall go to Castletown myself to give them.” I said with a hopeful lilt in my voice. But the old man just slowly waved a dismissive hand.
“Oh nonsense, Princess. It is not becoming of a future queen to mingle amongst the common folk.” he reprimanded me gently, and I checked my expression. “That is our role; I’m delighted to report Master Link has done well assisting us in these matters.”
Interest sparked inside my chest, and part of me forgot about my expression.
“Is he now? I would like to give him my thanks, if I am able.”
“He will be arriving here shortly. But Your Highness, will you not be making an appearance at court this evening?”
My heart sank. I thanked him for reminding me, and he thanked me once more for my donation as I began to pad back towards the castle.
The distinctive sound of a horse’s footsteps pricked my ears, and I turned to see a familiar chestnut-colored horse trot up to the almonry, her emerald-clad rider none other than the hero chosen by the gods. The noble yet humble youth who defeated the usurper kings and drove back the Twilight Invasion: Link. He dismounted to speak to the Royal Almoner, who still held the clothes I had sewn in his arms.
Longing twisted my feet in the direction of the almonry. Bringing my hand to my chest, I considered walking back to engage in conversation with him. Even after fighting to save Hyrule, I found that I could hardly give him a moment’s notice. It was the least I could do as he continued doing odd jobs and errands for my people.
Isn’t that what friends do?
But I had to get to my quarters, as court was going to start soon.
Then I caught his eye, and he flashed me a friendly smile as he held up his hand in a wave.
Surprise stunned me for a moment, but I couldn’t help but bashfully return it, feeling my lips curl into a grin of my own, the skin around my eyes bunching.
Link nodded appreciatively at me before turning his attention back to the Royal Almoner, but I still felt someone’s eyes on me. Turning my head, I glimpsed a couple of servants staring with cocked brows and drawn lips; my face displaying a crooked smile and my hand still raised awkwardly in the air.
I immediately fixed myself with a neutral expression, smoothing imaginary wrinkles from my gown. Giving the servants a polite nod, I began to hurry back to the castle.
Eventually night began to fall, and dinner and court finally drew to a close.
As I made my way down the darkening halls, a strange sense of uneasiness began to creep over me. Nothing was out of place. Most of the servants still milled about. Nobody was following me. Yet I still had to fight the urge to fidget with my gloves, trying to keep my feet moving at a steady pace as I finally found the bathroom.
Upon entering, I was greeted by the smell of burning incense and the gentle glow of many candles illuminating the room. I willed myself to relax as I bathed, to breathe in the steam and ignore the patches of shadow that peppered the walls and nested in corners. I forced myself to focus on the lacey ribbons and buttons on my nightclothes as I dressed into them, to keep my eyes from finding the void hanging from the ceiling. I urged myself to work my hairbrush as fast as possible, feeling the pain of the bristles pulling at my scalp as opposed to the icy breath that blew out the candles one by one.
But no matter what I did, I could not avoid the advancing blackness in the vanity mirror.
At last I pulled on a robe and took one of the still lit candles with me as I left for my chambers.
The servants and other workers began to retire to their bedrooms, and I felt dread start to hollow my belly as I began to walk the wide corridors now lit solely by torchlight.
But why?
Hyrule Castle at night was always murky and admittedly had an eerie atmosphere about it, but I knew better than to fear for my safety.
Until I reached the tower stairs leading to my quarters.
The torches lining the walls were lit, with the windows offering no moonlight, but I still felt bile rising in my throat and sweat clinging to my brow as I walked the lengths in between them.
For my candle only lit the small space I occupied.
Knowing that no one (that I knew of) was watching, I began to run up the remaining steps, and my chamber doors thankfully appeared where I remembered them. I brusquely shouldered them open before forcing them closed immediately once I was safe inside my bedroom.
Leaning with my back against them, I tried to take deep, calming breaths, focusing on the flickers of light emanating from the hearth. The dying flames danced as my nausea passed.
Sleep, I figured, that should make me feel better.
And so I blew out the candle, cast off my robe, and peeled back the neatly made blankets and bedsheets. My hand hovered above the oil lamp burning at my bedside. The fire in the hearth had turned to embers. If I blew out the lamp, there would be no more light in the room. A wave of nausea swept over me once more.
The windows, I reminded myself.
But of course.
All I had to do was look outside, and the nightmare would be over. The guards would be silhouetted by torchlight, the clouds aglow with moonlight. The wind would be calm, and not whipped about by the flapping of vast wings. I could discern lit windows spotted across the low buildings in the castle courtyard, even Castletown, and nothing would be obscured by the sickening haze of twilight–
The windows were filled with pitch.
The sight made my pulse quicken, and I fought to control my shuddering breath but my lungs preferred to match my heart’s pace. I furrowed my brow as I pressed a hand to my chest. My vision darted around wildly.
What is happening to me?
I retreated back to my bed, back to the light of the oil lamp, pulling the covers up to my shoulders.
The second half of my room was curtained by complete blackness, threatening to swallow me and the rest of the room whole. Threatening to drag me inside…
I pulled the covers over my head and curled up into a shivering ball under them.
I shut my eyes. The silence was maddening.
Go to sleep, go to sleep!
I jumped as a shrill noise pierced the air.
My heart finally began to still as I realized the sound was that of a bird singing.
Blinking back tears, I discerned each note carried by the pleasant chirps and trills, relieved to find I had regained control of my breath. Tentatively crawling out from under my makeshift fabric burrow, I laid back and focused my vision on the flame housed in the bedside lamp, not taking my eyes off of it until exhaustion finally overtook me.
I woke intermittently during the seemingly everlasting hours of the night, being momentarily seized by panic every time I rose facing away from the oil lamp, which still continued to burn.
Eventually I laid awake, unable to be at ease until sunlight finally started to spill in through the windows. My sleepless night weighed on my eyelids as I slowly and clumsily turned out the lamp. Ungraciously flopping back onto my pillows, I reflected on the harrowing experience of simply preparing for bed.
Nothing had ever made me feel such fear, nothing since…
The thought of comparing the two widened my eyes and wrinkled my nose.
I swallowed hard.
What kind of ruler…I thought in disgust, is afraid of the dark?

Hello!
Feels like it’s been forever since I last uploaded a drawing. May was super hectic for me, I barely had time to draw. But now I’ve got a bit of free time, and I’m using it to get my revenge—by drawing a lot!
SS: I’ve been wanting to draw this scene for so long.
AoL: Finally colored this old sketch.
Lttp: This is the scene at the start of the LTTP game, and I think Link only hears Zelda’s voice telepathically. He doesn’t know what she looks like, so I didn’t draw her here. I love drawing Link’s rain-soaked hair
TP: I think I messed up the coloring on this one. I just can’t feel the depth. I wanted to color the throne to look dark (with deep tones) but also distant (fading into white), and I couldn’t get it to blend properly. not enough...
⬇️⬇️⬇️ Doodle compilation from my first time playing Skyward Sword!!
I’m still trying to adapt the characters to my style so they may look a bit weird for now (except Grahim (Ghirahim on eng i think?) , he looks weird on purpose)
About the gameplay, I’ve honestly been enjoying it sm. The first temple with the new controls was HARD tho, i rage quitted the first fight with Ghirahim, but when I learned that the direction of the sword attacks were actually THAT important everything became easier
Also THE BOSSES!!!! , i was so amazed by all their different mechanics, i actually really liked that you can’t “”””cheat””” your way through the bosses mechanics by throwing arrows and hit it with all your weapons ksjdjsjsjs
I hope to do some proper, rendered fanart of skyward sword once i finish it 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I finished skyward sword!!! I had a blast with this game and i’m so attached to it now 😭😭😭
I kinda promised a full rendered fanart without taking into account I haven’t fully rendered something in YEARS, this is what i have for now but i may do some corrections in the future.
Fav boss: KOLOKTOS 110%
Least fav boss: The imprisoned aka avocado demise and Scaldera
Final boss thoughts: i really REALLY wanted the demise fight to have a phase in the sky with the skyloft, it was impossible tho as the fight is set in the past. I liked it but i expected a lil more ig.
ANYWAY I WAS NEVER HERE FOR THE GAMEPLAY I WAS HERE FOR THE LORE, AND BOY I ENJOYED IT
Speed paint and alt version under the cut!! Had to sped it up even more bc it was
Happy 40th anniversary! (A tad late) it’s available on my ko-fi shop max resolution and different sizes
Will be also available for my Lord of the mountain tier patreons.
Remember when I said i hadn’t prepared anything for the anniversary? I started that day. I obviously did not finish on time 😃 it took me almost 40 hours to finish, that’s crazy. At least I had fun while doing it. Added close ups of some of my favorite parts.
