I have three points to make:

I know na Bato is a joke as a senator, but I never expected him to be this uneducated.

He's a senator-judge when the Senate sits as an impeachment court, pero he's filing a motion to dismiss the impeachment case. It's like this: ikaw yung judge, pero ikaw pa nagdedefend ng suspect during trial. Trabaho yun ng counsel ng defendant. As a judge, you're supposed to be impartial and unbiased in hearing the merits of the case.

Senate cannot suspend it's jurisdiction over the impeachment complaint just because of "technical" acts.

Sabi pa nga ng Supreme Court sa isang case: "Jurisdiction, once validly acquired, is not lost by subsequent happenings. It continues until the case is finally resolved or dismissed." Senate should have ruled on the merits of the impeachment case kasi they have already acquired jurisdiction over it nung na receive nila yung Articles of Impeachment. Di nila pwedeng gawing reason yung "technical" na pagkukulang ng House of Representatives in handling the impeachment complaint. Which leads me to my third point:

It is not the Senate's job to determine whether there is grave abuse of discretion in passing the Articles of Impeachment by the House of Representatives.
