my little sister made a point to say that the women in twin peaks seem to have this little girl voice when talking to a man, but not when talking to other women, and she knows it's a deliberate choice. and YEAH that's why the bathroom scene between donna and audrey in 1x05 is so refreshing like yes these women were always witty and capable and complex don't you feel the exhaustion of having to watch them push themselves to the brink to make it work with a guy who, in the end, cannot save them? also i miss season 1 audrey and her nancy-drewing era.
