āPlant a Tree, Save a Life.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Air pollution is a serious problem here in the Philippines. Air pollution is a problem for all of us. However, some groups of people are especially sensitive to common air pollutants such as particulates and ground-level ozone. Sensitive populations include children, older adults, people who are active outdoors, and people with heart or lung diseases, such as asthma. Thankfully, we have trees. It is not an exaggeration to say that trees save both lives and money. Trees helps in cleansing the air by absorbing odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and filtering particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark. Also, three trees placed strategically around a single-family home can cut summer air conditioning needs by up to 50 percent. By reducing the energy demand for cooling our houses, we reduce carbon dioxide and other pollution emissions from power plants. These are just some of the benefits we could acquire from trees, therefore, we developed this campaign called, āMananom Kita: Filling in the Missing Greenā.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Our project, āMananom Kita: Filling in the Missing Greenā is a project that our organization is proposing to address the needs of our community. As you might have known, General Santos City is having a fast-paced urbanization, however, this development brings upon both boon and bane. The boom of our economy and a quick rise in its population might sound good but it also carries a cost; the destruction of our environment. Therefor, to solve the problem, we have found a simple yet effective solution, and that is planting trees. Our organization will incite change by creating programs, educating the people, and planting trees in specific barangays in the city, all for the sake of our environment.
Ā Ā Ā Ā This organization is fairly new but we are already moving to make our ambitions closer and closer to reality. Our organization is mainly composed of students but we are very capable and talented. Also, to improve our fiscal stability, we will enlist the help of local community leaders, philanthropists, and other existing agencies with the same cause. Above all, we assure everyone that all of the help we get goes directly to the prospects of our organization and the accomplishment of our project.
