Abby Langdon has a list for her ex-husband’s future wife: smart, kind, good with kids, unbothered by 14-hour shifts. Mel King checks every box — so Abby does what any good ex-wife would do and sets up a blind date.

Frank does not examine why the first person he pictured when Abby said "someone smart, great with kids, works in healthcare" was not some stranger Abby was about to describe, but a woman standing four feet away from him in the  that very morning, glasses pushed up her nose, laughing at something he said like he was the funniest man in Pittsburgh.

He decides this is a problem for a version of himself who has slept more than four hours. He does not think about it again for the rest of the shift. He thinks about it for the entire rest of the shift.

they swing into his entryway and mel is panting, sighing, moaning into his mouth. he swears he can hear the blood rush in his ears.

hands are everywhere. on his nape where she’s grasping at his hair. on her ribs as he feels the weight of her tits in his palms.

he starts kissing her neck and making his way down her body. her neck is flushed and her skirt has officially ridden up as her one of her legs hooks around his back. frank can see her panties are soaked and takes a moment to steady himself until he hears a breathy, “more. please.”

his mind goes blank and he feels feral. mel king asked him for more? well, he’s always been an overachiever.

he slowly gets on his knees, her leg now hooked on his shoulder and his thumb gently teasing the dampness as he gets close enough to pull her panties down with his teeth.

could be her getting hurt and for him to frantically rush over to embrace her while whispering “Melissa King, thank god you’re okay” into her hair.
