Guy who is touch starved but emotionally repressed goading you into punching him for completely normal reasons
mmmMMMM WHATCHA SAAAAYYY
Me: attempting to pick literally any romance option besides Gale
Also me:
Astarion disapproving of freeing the grymforge gnomes in act 1 is such an interesting moment to me. Because youād assume that freeing slaves would gain favor with him or at the very least heād stay neutral on, but I came to a different conclusion that would make more sense as to his disapproval.
I think what he felt was resentment. He typically dislikes acts of heroism and I think that ties into his voice lines like where he tried praying to all the gods but none of them answered and thereās another line I forgot but itās along the lines of Wyll being the kind of hero Astarion would have dreamed of as a boy (sorry I know butchered that one š). But anyway, seeing you perform this act of heroism and free the slaves most likely made him feel resentment towards you or someone like you not saving him in the 200 years he was a slave.
So rather than him disliking you freeing the gnomes it was more so him resenting the broader idea of a hero returning freedom to group who was enslaved as he was pretty much abandoned in his own enslavement for 200 years and even then it took a larger outside force to take him out of that situation.
Iām sure this isnāt a new take but Iām new to bg3 in general so Iām coming to conclusions Iām sure many others already had

Because why not another illustration in this mood šāØ
I'm obsessed with putting my boys in this kind of atmosphere
JK Rowling just posted about a woman reading The Philosopherās Stone to their child - and I have some thoughts
I grew up in the Harry Potter generation. My best friend and I used to queue outside Waterstones to buy the latest Harry Potter book and devour them within a couple of days. I got engaged to my ex-partner in front of Tim Riddleās parentās grave at Harry Potter World in London. I always thought that Harry Potter would be something that I could read to my daughter, connect with her over, talk to her about. I read her the first two books when she was a newborn - before I was aware of JKās views.
Harry Potter played a huge part in my life as someone who grew up in the late 90ās/early 2000ās. I devoured it all. The films, the books, the fanfiction, the beautiful art people made. I owned multiple pieces of merch, and wore them often.
But I canāt stay silent.
The new series wouldāve made teenage me scream in excitement. Like Hogwarts Legacy, it was everything Iāve ever wanted as a child. I wanted more of this world that I had placed on a pedestal and let define a chunk of my life.
As I got older, Harry Potter became something I wanted wasnāt hugely into but could still look back on fondly. āRemember when we went to the cinema to see Half Blood Prince?ā āRemember when we dressed as dementors for Halloween?ā
But then JK Rowling began to make her heinous opinions known.
I have friends who are trans. I have friends who are non-binary. I have friends who are gender fluid. I value them more than words can express, and certainly more than Harry Potter.
JK Rowling uses her wealth to directly harm trans people in the UK on a political level. She uses people consuming her work as an endorsement of her views.
I canāt stand by while she actively stands against the mere existence of people I love dearly.
As someone who grew up on Harry Potter, as someone who was so ingrained in the fandom and wanted this series so badly at one point - it is in no way worth it.
People who starred in the film series have publicly disavowed her for her views - this new series is merely an attempt by her to stay relevant and keep making money so she can funnel it into cruel anti-trans legislation and vile hatred.
Trans lives matter more than anything JK Rowling has ever written, and trans people will continue to exist long after she is gone.
Transgender people have a right to exist, and they have a right to feel safe in public spaces. This is not debatable, this is a fact.
Support your transgender community. Donāt watch the new Harry Potter series. Trans lives are more important than a tv show about wizards. And they always will be.
If youāre in the UK and want to make a difference, here are some charities you can donate to that actively help transgender people:
Helping gender-diverse kids, young people and their families since 1995
At a time when anti-trans discrimination is rife and hate crime has reached record levels, itās important to know what support is out there

Making a live action BG3 series is nothing but a joyless cashgrab and this is a hill I'll die on

AO3 is down again, everybody hold hands and add something to the summoning circle
I just really love some of the subtlety in Astarion's approval mechanics.
Initially in act 1 he will just absolutely whine and bitch every time you try to do something even vaguely altruistic. Under the hood, they're only small dings to your approval--1 here, 5 there; he's constantly annoyed with your average do-gooder player, and it comes off like he's just a purely selfish asshole. Which he is. But there's more to it.
Pay attention to his banter throughout the game and he'll mention how he called on every God, how he wanted someone to rescue him, and no one ever did. How he used to be attracted to heroic princely types like Wyll. It's the bitterness of someone who had his worldview shattered. He's basically in the back of the group rolling his eyes every time you do something cartoonishly heroic, because he doesn't think heroism exists.
But by act 3, there's a shift. You start getting "Astarion approves" for things like rescuing slaves or being kind to children. Slowly but surely, as it becomes apparent that your intentions are sincere, your hero bullshit starts rubbing off on him. And it's rewarding as hell.

i knew that shadowheart's hair changed before i started playing bg3 and i assumed it would be like an emotionally charged magical moment where she defects from shar and is blasted with magical energy or something and it is still endlessly funny to me that she just. had an existential crisis so she cut her bangs and dyed her hair. what an icon
