YoYo Sand

My inspiration for this dress came from a picture of a similar dress I saw on the internet. I used painter’s tape on my dress form to draft a pattern of my own.

I used extra fabric to make a mock-up of the bodice.

This is the actual bodice with the panels sewn together.

I then hand-sewed a second layer to give the bodice more strength. 

I added the boning added to the second layer of the fabric, adding shape and strength to the bodice.

I took the flower patterned lace from the sleeves of an old wedding dress and used it to give the bodice a simple, yet elegant look.

To make sure that there were no unnecessary bubbles of fabric I sewed most of the flowers to the bodice, then hand sewed the edges down to give it a smooth look.

What is unique about this bodice is that, other than the pattern pieces and the boning, it is entirely hand-sewn which gives it a very unique look at the seams. I’m also proud that I designed it just with tape.
