don’t think about how he’ll be sure to write his lead character to be braver, stronger and more capable of saving the day than he was.

don’t think about how he’ll always ensure that his characters get their happy ending, because his own still feels so out of reach.

and definitely don’t think about how at the end of every single author acknowledgements he will always include “and to my mage — I love you. i’m sorry I never said it enough.” that way if there’s any chance she is still out there, the tangible evidence of his love will exist in permanent print at every bookshop, in every corner of the world.
