My really meta byler au with Will working as a set designer and Mike as a screen writer for a big Netflix show, that has this beautiful queer story being built up throughout all seasons, where Mike takes a lot of inspiration from his own closet self teenage life. And then somewhere in the process of writing the final season the writers strike happens, and then Mike has a falling out with the producers/directors/Netflix, resulting in him quitting/being fired.
