personally I really liked frankenstein 2025 (the cinematography, the sets, the acting) and it’s a tiny bit odd that everyone is hung up on “book vs movie” discourse when it’s a story that’s been told hundreds of times. guillermo del toro is a creative visionary who has dedicated his life to the “craft”. if anything it would be strange if he didn’t have a unique perspective on the story to bring to the adaptation…….but that’s just me

you do not need to be 100% accurate to be TRUE to the source. del toro captured the important themes — victor’s obsession with creation without accountability, the social rejection/pariah — all while gifting the audience with a level of artistry that few films strive for anymore. nothing should be completely free from criticism (even if you enjoy it) but at the same time this feels OVERLY criticized to the point that ppl r purposefully being obtuse.
