hello new friends! thank you for being here and engaging with the byproducts of my addled mind. i thrive off of people saying nice things to me (but only if they're sincere) and i'm working on overcoming a severe aversion to people reading my writing. so far i've only let 2 people in my life ever read my writing willingly (once almost passed out reading an essay at school that i didn't know at the time was a competition) and both of them only happened because y'all were really nice about my stories the last two months

i do take requests and i actually love them, so please please send me ideas for stories if you have them and feel like outsourcing! i love a good challenge, and i only have maybe 4 projects in the works right now, which is actually low for me

she’s dressed as a doctor, in scrubs that you made in an attempt to have them look at authentic as possible, a kid’s stethoscope around her neck (just like daddy always has), a little zip up hoodie, a clipboard and a little backpack

she walks to the nurses station, you following to make sure nothing happens while greeting dana, princess, perlah, donahue and langdon; your daughter taking a seat on princess’ lap and looking at the computer with an expression that mirrors robby’s concentration

when robby walks over to the station and starts talking, asking a flurry of questions, it takes everything in the nurses not to laugh because he still hasn’t noticed his family there

“scuse me doctor daddy sir, can’t help when you look so angry”

When he can, he likes to help you when you do fun days or excursions for the kids. He brings the muffins for ‘Muffins with Mommy’ day at school, he drops off those worksheets you forgot at home this morning - he even buys your classroom supplies if the school doesn’t have funding for what you want to do. They won’t give you the money to buy books for the class? Jack’s already placed an Amazon order. They won’t provide the funds for a field trip to that dinosaur museum? Jack’s paying for the day passes for your class and the chaperones. On career day he even comes to talk about what it’s like to be a doctor!!! And he somehow convinces Robby to come too. All the moms in the classroom are just fucking swooning over the both of them the whole time - some in front of their husbands 😭

As aforementioned, he also likes to take you to work and pick you up on his days off. You wave at him after school when you see him patiently leaning against his truck in the parking lot. He smiles watching you say goodbye and interact with the kids as they leave with their parents. One of the kids’ dads is taking his sweet ass time asking you questions about an upcoming field trip, including if you need any chaperones 🙄 Queue Jack strutting across the parking lot, puffing his chest out a little extra.

a few moments later, grant stepped into the main dining room. he gave greeting nods to customers as he made his way over to your table. he had that stupidly charming half-smile on his face.

"how was it?" he asked, folding his hands behind his back and tilting his head. you pursed your lips and nodded.

"you know i can't give you my secrets, grant." you smirked.

"oh, come on, you can't give a preview for your favorite chef in the city?" you pursed your lips and hummed.

"you're right," you agreed "i'll swing by marco's and let him know." grant rolled his eyes.

"you're so funny." he bit out sarcastically.

"i know." you rearranged the plates on the table to make it easier for the bussers to collect them. "don't worry," you soothed "the food was good. but...don't you think the prices are a bit...exorbitant?"

"well," grant chuckled "we are a michelin star restaurant." his smile widened. "plus, you know, i have a wife i have to spoil."

"right. she must be very lucky." you sat there smiling at each other for a few moments. until grant's eyes flicked down to your open notebook. his mouth dropped and his brows furrowed.

"too much lemon?" he read with a frown "i thought you liked citrus." you immediately snapped the notebook closed.

"i do!" you assured "it's just-" you cut yourself off. no. you had rules. "you'll see it in the review." grant tossed his head back for a groan and you got to your feet, gathering your things.

"can't believe you're making me wait." he grumbled and pouted. you took a step toward him and ran your hand along his bicep.

"you're right, i'm so mean." you mocked his pout. "i'll make it up to you, promise." you pressed a kiss to his cheek, squeezing his arm. before you pulled away, you whispered, "i'll see you at home for desert." grant took a deep breath and closed his eyes. a deep hum rumbled from his chest. you waved goodbye to the cooks watching the exchange from the kitchen window and walked out the door.
