Suzanne B. Arthur Collins, I cannot believe you. What an incredible, heart breaking, vivid, mercilous, deeply feeling writer you are. Jeez, what next. You write my vows at my wedding and then swiftly kick me in the chest?

I am so glad the rest of the trilogy is out already. I feel like I would be beside myself with hurt if this was the only book, with no indication of a second one coming.

And ANYONE who thinks that "katniss didn't love peeta in the beginning" can catch my elbows! Because there ain't NO WAY she didn't. Especially at the end. Are you kidding? There's no way that wasn't love. Maybe it wasn't the purely romantic love that peeta held, the whole time, but it was love. Deep, caring, confused love of some kind.

Also also, ( IN MY OPINION) as much as the capitol is upset that both katniss and peeta made it out of the arena, it really was for the best I think. Both because they both got to live (yippee) but also because I genuinely believe in my heart of hearts that katniss would have gone insane. If peeta died in front of her, or she somehow offed him herself, I feel like she would be inconsolable. Like how she was in the hovercraft after they were lifted out, but worse and more. And probably for longer. I wouldn't be surprised if she couldn't make it to the tribute interviews. I wouldn't be surprised if the only thing holding her there was Prim, and even then I wouldn't be shocked if she died shortly after the games ended.

Weirdly, I feel like Peeta would have had a better shot, post-games, without katniss. He would definitely be visibly bereft with grief, but over time I feel like he could move on. Still hold a hole in his heart for her probably, but would be able to get himself together. But then again, I don't know. We only really got katniss's side of everything. We don't know how Peeta truly felt deep down, even towards the end. We could infer, but we don't know.

All I do know is from the moment katniss found him again in the mud, to the very end of the games, I think peeta was ready to die (given how he acted and spoke to katniss in the games). Even through each stage of healing he kept saying how he didn't want katniss to go for him, and how she should help him die faster, and at the end almost offing himself just so she wouldn't have to do it (and didn't want her to do anything first). It felt like every step, he truly believed be would die and that katniss was just buying time and he wasn't in any state to refuse her and just enjoyed her company in the meantime. So given that... He would probably be very mad if she went before him. Both at her and the capitol and the world and himself probably. But given all of that, I still think he would have a better chance of healing past it/through it. (And knowing peeta he would have taken care of katniss's family too, if/when he got back to the district. Or at the very least tried to.)

But katniss... If she didn't end up like haymitch- or with the help of him, reluctantly straight out ENOUGH for the new tributes- she would probably be dead. In some way or another.

I know her and peeta nearly eating the berries was a little smack to the capitol's integrity, but with fore-sight they should know it is kind of for the best for them. (I know with two victors they wouldn't be able to more easier trade them off to wealthy clients, but at least the audience is happy enough with them.)

Also audience wise, if both of them died it would have been not only a tragic story and the capitol would have lost some support, but it would have also given every reason for the districts to revolt. Because what is there to live for if we don't have a chance? And if one of them died it would maybe be an interesting story but it would be DEVASTATING. And unless EVERYONE in the capitol was a sadist, they would be mad at the capitol and game makers for taking their favorite couple away and all of the potential of them. It would also kind of break the trust between the capitol public and the capitol government, because they took back their promise for two victors in the games. Who's to say they won't take back their promises in general.

The capitol, not only is disgusting but is also short sited.

It's like... Not only are you evil and dangerous, but you are also stupid.
