I did see this becoming a problem tho - I can't constantly update whenever a fic comes out. I'd like to! But my brain jst isn't built for that. It feels like more of a chore then anything else, but I want to be happy from this.

Maybe I'll be able to take a similar posting style later on, when I have a better mental capacity, but for now I think I'm going to continue working on the tier list and writing reviews of fics from time to time.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

We rolled out a significant change to how notes work on reblogs, and the reaction has been strong. We're not going to pretend otherwise. 

First things first: We're reversing the change. Your feedback in comments, emails, and especially reblogs, made clear that the rollout created problems we need to address before moving forward. We also should have communicated this differently from the start, and we didn't.

We still believe there's a better version of how reblogs can work. One that gives every voice in a chain the credit it deserves. But we want to get there with you.

In the coming days we'll share more on how we plan to do that,  including ways to work directly with some of you on this and future changes before they ship.

there is no "better way that reblogs can work" tho. they're perfectly fine. take that update and incinerate it and never even think abt it again. its a shit update and no one wants it

Your creativity has always been the heart of Tumblr, whether you’re the original poster or adding something brilliant in the reblogs, and nothing about this change is meant to limit that.

I haven't been hit by it yet (I think), or at least I haven't noticed as it seems to be affecting creators more then casual users, but even so it feels like they looked at the most iconic and important part of tumblr and went "let's remove it".

I'll admit, I've thought abt this from time to time when I'm wondering if theres a specific comment replying to a reblog and I can't find any, but like any competent person, I always thought "nah thats fucking stupid".

But seriously, this is just a stupid fucking idea. I use tumblr FOR the notes system, I don't like blueskys or twitters or any other sites. I like being able to see the full conversation immediately, and then even more branching topics from different points in the tags.

Making tumblr more like twitter is just fucking stupid. No one asked for this. No one wanted this. Tumblr is one of the few sites that isn't just a carbon copy of another with one small change and that's why a lot of people are on here. It's unique, and this update squashes that.

It's clear staff doesn't really care, they aren't genuinely interested in listening to what we have to say, even if a lot of people say they'll leave the site bc of this.

On that note, this blog will not be updating until it's explicitly clear whether or not they will listen to us and roll this back. I want to keep this blog going, I want to continue to try and accomplish my goal, but I'm not going to continue this blog if they do this. I'm deadass not interested. Haven't decided what I'll do with my main blog.
