This album feels like the opposite of TTPD. It doesn’t have those gut-wrenching bridges or the kind of lyrics that stick with you for days. There’s no dense poetry, no hidden double or triple meanings. Instead, it’s light, fun, and easy to follow — and honestly, that seems to be the point.
You can hear the difference in where they come from: TTPD was born out of raw emotion, written as a way to process and accept what she was going through. TLSG, on the other hand, feels more intentional — polished, streamlined, and built to be award-friendly. And it will win awards. The songs are undeniably catchy, and sonically the whole record fits together in a way that TTPD never really tried to.
But for me, this isn’t the kind of album I’ll keep returning to the way I do with TTPD. It won’t reveal new layers on every listen, and it won’t make me stop and think. It’s a fun ride while it lasts — and I’ll enjoy it — but eventually I know I’ll go back to TTPD for the depth, the poetry, and the way it makes me feel something different each time.
In Fact I would go as far as to suggest this album has the least amount of hitting lyrics in comparison to her previous works.
Or maybe I just have to sit with it, Taylor Swift is one of those artists whose songs hit after a while sometimes 🤔
