The Throne Behind the Throne: Lilith vs. Alastor (Season 3 Theories)

I’ve got so many Season 3 theories running through my head that I decided the best way to get them out is through illustrations! I’d love for other fans to weigh in with their thoughts or add their own ideas. I’ve done some animations with a similar style before, but this project dives much deeper into the lore. At least, what I believe it could be.

Anyway, with Lilith and Alastor both confirmed to have major roles in Season 3, I’m convinced they’re headed for serious conflict, likely fueled by some shared history. Alastor probably sees her as a huge obstacle. He’s laser-focused on manipulating Charlie and earning her complete trust to further whatever secret scheme he’s cooking up for future seasons. He used to worry about Lucifer, but now that he knows Lucifer can’t harm sinners, he seems less threatened. Lilith, though? As the second most powerful royal in Hell, she’s a whole different story.

As for Lilith, she’s definitely aware of Alastor’s reputation. If she really is the one who empowers sinners, then Alastor showing up already powerful (without her help) would immediately make him a wildcard in her eyes. I’m starting to think Lilith might actually be the reason Overlords exist. Maybe she shared her power to build an army of elite sinners she could count on when Heaven came knocking.

That’s also why I think Carmilla and Zestial (and probably Rosie) are in charge, they’re the oldest and most loyal in Lilith’s eyes, the last of the "old guard" who actually followed her orders. There were probably others, but when Alastor showed up and started trapping souls to grow his power, that older generation got wiped out. That likely inspired newer sinners to do the same, rising up as powerful Overlords and challenging the authority of Zestial, Carmilla, and even Lilith herself before she vanished.

Now that Lilith is back and sees Alastor acting as Charlie’s "host" and close confidant, she’ll have every reason to be suspicious. And Alastor? He’ll probably pull the same trick he used with Lucifer: reminding Charlie that he was there for her while "Mommy" was gone for years. He’ll paint Lilith as an outsider swooping in to lay down rules and pull Charlie away from her friends. It’s a recipe for total chaos.
