of  course  it’d  be  derek  purposely  ruining  her  newfound  good  mood  .  and  when  he  basically  tells  her  off  ,  she  finally  shoots  him  a  less  than  amused  glance  .  “  regina  george  act  ?  i  didn’t  know  you  were  a  mean  girls  fan  ,  ”  she  retorts  with  a  playful  smirk  on  her  face  before  eyes  roll  dramatically  at  the  mention  of  hunters  .  “  if  hunters  wanted  me  dead  ,  i’m  pretty  sure  they  would’ve  made  a  move  already  ,  plus  there’s  nothing  wrong  with  a  little  makeover  .  everyone  likes  my  new  look  .  ”

          brows  raising  at  the  sight  of  the  knife  ,  stiles  can’t  help  but  roll  his  eyes  a  little  .  he’d  seen  enough  things  and  been  threatened  enough  times  to  no  longer  react  as  badly  to  seeing  a  knife  in  front  of  him  .  “  yeah  ,  college  project  ,  are  you  gonna’  help  or  do  you  want  to  be  responsible  for  my  failure  ?  ”  he  exaggerates  ,  “  no  …  i’ve  not  seen  it  and  i’ve  only  heard  about  what  it  does  .  why  ?  have  you  seen  what  it  does  ?  ”  he  wonders  ,  curiousity  washing  over  him  as  it  always  did  .

          hayley  couldn’t  the  small  hint  of  a  smile  forming  on  her  face  ,  for  a  stranger  ,  he’d  divulged  more  information  so  far  than  anyone  she  actually  knew  .  and  by  the  looks  of  it  ,  he  was  hoping  for  some  information  back  in  return  .  “  sadly  not  ,  i’m  trying  to  figure  that  part  out  myself  ,  ”  truthfully  ,  she  was  attempting  to  do  some  digging  into  the  attacks  in  town  whilst  also  trying  to  find  out  about  her  family  and  roots  .  “  if  your  guy  doesn’t  have  enough  information  to  save  them  ,  what  exactly  is  he  going  to  do  ?  ”

so, she didn’t know anything. that was a bummer; the only reason artie seemed to talk to anyone nowadays was to figure out what they knew about things that lurked in the shadows. if she wasn’t useful, his training told him to turn around and start talking to the next pretty face at the bar. but, her not knowing meant that she one of the good guys. right? his smile turned tight, eyes glazing over as he stared over her shoulder. “i guess we’ll have to figure that out, won’t we?”

she  found  herself  in  a  bit  of  a  dilemma  ,  not  entirely  sure  how  much  or  how  little  to  divulge  into  ,  where  hunters  were  concerned  .  and  as  he  alerts  her  to  the  presence  of  one  hunter  in  the  bar  already  ,  she  somewhat  stiffens  at  the  thought  .  “  i’d  imagine  so  ,  i  think  you  and  i  both  know  those  attacks  in  the  news  are  not  really  animal  related  ,  well  not  the  animals  people  think  anyway  .  ”  was  she  hinting  at  the  possibility  of  wolves  being  the  cause  ?  potentially  but  she  wasn’t  completely  sure  herself  what  was  behind  it  all  .

here he goes, asking questions. of course, katherine expects this. there’s no way derek would just agree to everything she wants him to do, especially since he can’t be compelled. so she’s come up with a plan to lie to him, to make him think that she doesn’t know much about this stupid little rock except that it could be useful to him. katherine wants him to think he’s the one who needs it, not her, and that all of her efforts are for him. it may be a blatant lie, but lying just so happens to be a specialty of hers. “as far as i know, it’s all legend. but your sister said it’s a necessity for werewolves, something about it helps keep you in control on a full moon. you can’t tell me you don’t ever get the urge to kill anymore.” katherine refuses to believe even the most well trained werewolf isn’t a slave to the moon — that is, after all, the point of the curse they’ve all been put under. “laura’s my friend. i wanted to help her, and now i wanna help you,” she says, her voice dripping with sincerity that he hopefully can’t tell is false. the hand derek’s holding gives his a squeeze as if to emphasize her point, while her free hand goes to run through his hair gently. “i care about you, derek.”

boyd still isn’t adjusted to the idea of a pack or a united family — most of his life he considered himself a loner, more ironically aligned with a lone wolf until now. he had erica and isaac, questionably could depend on derek for leadership but occasionally he feels like a lacking sidekick to a whole new plethora of werewolf (and lizard) things. “ not that i’m aware of but stiles and i aren’t exactly the best of friends. erica might be better suited for that kind of job, “ the younger wolf shrugs, assuming that she’d have better luck.

of  course  it  must’ve  been  a  shock  for  everyone  (  herself  included  )  when  she’d  transformed  literally  overnight  into  an  entirely  new  person  but  erica  was  loving  every  second  of  it  .  what  was  not  to  like  ?  she  could  see  and  hear  better  ,  looked  better  and  heck  ,  even  felt  better  .  this  was  her  ,  who  she  was  meant  to  be  and  she’d  never  felt  more  confident  .  so  when  she  feels  a  presence  besides  her  ,  eyes  roll  dramatically  as  her  head  turns  to  meet  their  gaze  .  “  y’know  ,  if  you  take  a  picture  ,  it  lasts  a  whole  lot  longer  rather  than  just  standing  there  .  ”

𝚆𝙷𝙴𝚁𝙴 ; 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝚆𝙷𝙴𝙽 ; 𝘢𝘳𝘤 𝘐𝘐𝘐

with  talks  of  giant  green  lizard  running  round  town  ,  stiles  had  spent  all  night  on  the  internet  trying  to  find  any  mention  of  such  thing  ,  with  his  top  result  being  godzilla  .  and  as  the  sun  began  to  rise  ,  he  was  already  on  his  third  or  fourth  coffee  ,  gathering  all  his  findings  into  his  backpack  and  practically  running  out  the  door  .  after  all  ,  he  wasn’t  getting  anywhere  in  his  room  and   so  ,  he  took  to  the  streets  ,  figuring  if  he  could  find  someone  ,  anyone  who’d  seen  it  ,  he’d  know  what  they  were  dealing  with  .  “  sorry—  ,  excuse  me  ,  i’m  doing  a  project  for  college  ,  it’s  just  a  few  questions  .  number  one  ,  have  you  seen  any  giant  lizard  -  like  creatures  around  town  ?  ”

there was a werewolf in the woods.

given the history of the town, artie knew he shouldn’t be surprised that he found something while he was out hunting for tracks, but still. sometimes he went out and hoped he wouldn’t find anything. but no, he’d been tracking a werewolf for hours. it took him deep into the woods, but didn’t seem to being hunting for anything. certainly no dead deer had shown up, which was a relief. that meant probably not an omega; probably just one out for a run. 

it was confusing, though. the tracks were sloppy, sloppier than a competent wolf would let it. it was as if whoever he was tracking wanted to be found, or else, was leading him into a trap. like they knew he was there. then, without warning, they trail ended in a clearing. artie flexed his fingers on his gun.

“you shouldn’t be out here alone,” he called, stupidly, into the night. “i hear there’s hunters out.”

derek handed boyd his smoothie and sighed. he wasn’t good with suddenly having all of this company around him all the time, but there was a comfort in having a pack. he had a soft spot for scott, but without the actual pack bond, it left him feeling hallow. “has stilinski figured out anything about the kanima?” he asked. “you should probably be following him around. or we can just steal his laptop.” derek stirred the smoothie with his straw and glanced up.

this is all very natural for katherine. seduction has always been something she’s done very well. with derek, it’s no different. he fell into her lap during her search for the moonstone, after her deal with laura hale fell through and katherine ripped the woman’s heart out without a second though. what better way to keep her hand in the pot than to fuck laura’s brother? so now she’s here, in bed with derek with a sly grin adorning her features as her fingers trail lightly up and down his arm. “you look so cute when you’re being broody,” she comments, sparing a glance in his direction. she has him right where she wants him, eating out of the palm of her hand, and if she’s not mistaken he’d probably move mountains for her if he had to. if it gets her what she wants, she’ll gladly let him do it without lifting a perfectly manicured finger. but at the very least, she’d be content with just getting information out of him. “what’s the pout for?”

derek’s never been one for tact. well, that wasn’t entirely true. there was a period of his childhood where his mother had taught him manners and restraint and how to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. then, she died. it didn’t ever come in handy after that. “you’re the witch,” he said, as greeting. the bartender he’d heard whispers about didn’t look like much, but if there was someone in this town that could put a stop to the fucking lizard creature, derek had to try. “you need to come with me,” he said, “now.”

derek didn’t know where this little beta came from; if he’d been in beacon falls before laura or after. but clearly, he had no idea what he was doing. he had zero, literally zero, ability to recognize when he was being watched. by another werewolf, or hunter. which is why derek, despite his rightful reservations, found himself dragging the kid behind a boulder. “are you trying to get yourself killed?” he growled, holding the kid against the stone by his chest. “because if you are, you’re doing a brilliant job.”

“you get that he’s not just the bad guy, but the worst guy, don’t you?” derek begins, sitting across from elena. he snatches one of her french fries off her plate before continuing. “i mean, i had that thing with katherine, big mistake on my end. but you know damon is the worst. i’ve told you. everyone has. so why are you looking at him like you’ve just taken off all his clothes? don’t say you’re not, i saw your face!” he inhales once and then shakes his head. “i think i’m mostly disappointed, because i expected better from you. aren’t you supposed to be the nice one? nice girls don’t eye fuck evil vampires, elena.”

“liv,” artie hissed, leaning close to her. “how do you make a moonlight expresso?” he glanced over his shoulder at the customer, who was eyeing him like they wanted to eat him. not even in a fun way, more like a vampire might. artie didn’t think he was one, though. at least, he hoped. “is it, like, a coffee? i’m a bartender, i don’t know to make coffee. do you-?” artie broke off, glancing at the spot on the bar she’d been about to clean. it was entirely free of beer. totally clean. she’d barely moved. “wait, how did you do that?”

artie didn’t really know how he’d gotten there. someone had said something about the vampire marcel and he’d jumped into action. grabbed a few steaks and a sword he’d never really gotten the hang of using. and then he was there, standing in front of the vampire who killed his family. one who smiled smugly, like this was the easiest thing in the world for him. artie tightened his trembling hold on a steak. 

“you killed my family,” he said, a tremor in his voice. there’d been a speech he’d planned out for this moment, years ago. but it had all left his mind. his mouth felt dry, heart pounding, but he wasn’t just scared. he was angry. “right?” artie took a step towards him. “marcellus? that’s you?”

“do you maybe need a hand?” artie asked. vicki, his co-bartender and the girl pouring beer directly onto the floor and definitely not in the glass she held in her hand. she wasn’t always his favorite co-worker. she turned up high if she showed up, but she was nice enough. sweet, when she actually spoke to him. “or some water?” artie reached out and moved her hand over an inch so the beer was going in the glass.
