My mom’s dog spent an entire thanksgiving barking at a pot rolling around in the neighbor’s driveway. Dogs know things about inanimate objects that we do not.

One of my parents once left a rake leaning against one of the maple trees after raking up leaves in the backyard. Oscar knew it belonged back in the shed, so he stood there with his hackles up and did his pathetic little bark at this rake. “Go! Get inside the shed! You don’t belong out here!”
