so, i was thinking — how about the term “diagabled”? this stems from the term “diagable”, pronounced as /daɪæɡeɪbəl/.

diagable primarily comes from “dia-“ + “able”. “dia-“ becomes “di-“ in front of vowels, but because “diable” looks too similar to “disable”, and initially reads more like “two ables” or “both able”, it’s not the best term.

because of these problems, i used the words “diagonal” and “diagnosis” to add the consonant g. i used the word “diagonal” because a diagonal line connects two nonadjacent points, representing our desire to have some kind of physical disability. the word “diagnosis” is used for a more important reason — as a reminder that biid is a diagnosis. biid is a type of neurodivergency, and is not a choice. we don’t want disabilities for ~funsies~ or for ~clout~ or for ~privilege points~, it is because of our biid, which is a DIAGNOSIS.

TRANSABLED (RECLAIMED)!

—> transabled (reclaimed) is a reclaimed version of transabled that is used by people with BIID , xenomelia , and similar disorders to described how they need or want to be / feel like they should be disabled . this flag is not to be used by those who don't have BIID , xenomelia , or a similar disorder , or at least some sort of dysphoria that could qualify as being a symptom of having the disorder . you do not have to be professionally diagnosed with any of the disorders or identify with / as any of the disorders to use it , but you have to at least not just want to be disabled because you think it's "quirky" or "cool" .

I couldn’t find a biid flag other than the transabled flags (which aren’t always synonymous with having biid anyways) so I made one myself!

this flag represents people with body identity integrity disorder. it is not to be used by people who are just transabled, dwp, desire amputation, or have disability desires for other reasons.

the symbol is a simplified person with the lines symbolizing desire for a different body. the lines could also symbolize disability if you think they look like canes/a walker (which my friend pointed out).

stripe meanings are:

black for dysphoria/dysmorphia from having an abled body

dark red for people with biid who have given themselves/had surgery to acquire physical disabilities

red for people whose biid is affected by their neurodivergency/trauma/other factors

orange for solidarity with and compassion for the disabled, neurodivergent and mentally ill communities

red-pink for people with biid who use molibity aids/prosthetics/anything else that helps them have an appearance more closely matching their desired body

dark pink for trying to end the stigma around biid (and standing against ableism and saneism in general)

purple for the biid community

dark purple for the wide range of disabilities

The term may have been coined by strategic philosopher Max More in his 1993 article, Technological Self-Transformation: Expanding Personal Extropy, where he defined it as “the ability to alter bodily form at will through technologies such as surgery, genetic engineering, nanotechnology, uploading”. The term was later used by science debater Anders Sandberg as “an extension of one’s right to one’s body, not just self-ownership but also the right to modify oneself according to one’s desires.”

I made an amino for biid, as well as my server ive had up for a bit (sorry i forgot to get around to actually posting about it). The tag is biidbabes because biid was taken by a brazilian gay man amino lol.
