  raised eyebrows —— ; NOW HE’S in for it.      mutt begins to run after the other, despite the older having      more lengthier strides then he had. his hands frantically      hold onto his navy cap, which looked about like it would topple      of at any moment.

         ❝  i will catch ya !!  ❞

    the boy only laughs. he knows he has a better chance      of outrunning the little fella. he knew all sorts of little short-      cuts, PLUS he had his size difference to work for him. with      longer strides, he was able to keep a good distance away      from the puppy that was bounding behind him.

“yeah. yeah, ya do, an’ if ya don’t wanna owe me anythin’ else, ya won’t take specs’ glasses again!” but crutchie was laughing, laughing that they had fooled specs again. “I can’t wait tah see ‘is face at dinner!” he looked at albert, fixing him with a hard look.  "you are gonna give ‘em back sooner or later, right?”

      ❝ c'mon, ya know i'se just gonna take race's             cigar. he can always steal another, while us poor,             unfortunate children gotta spend our good years             on tha streets smokeless. ❞

    if he wasn't stuck on the streets, albert could've sworn he      would be in one of those fancy moving pictures! if only ..      none the less, his smile is still attached to his face as if      no thought had sullied his mood.

       ❝ give — it — back, ya stupid cat! i swear … i will         break yer nose if you don’t give it back.          1 .. 2 .. 3 ….!

      ❝ you callin' me a cat ??              what are ya .. some kind of mutt? ❞

    the kid teenager messes with the boy's hair, quickly      pushing past him and running. he laughs,

  “Albert—?” he looked back and forth between his fellow newsie and the street and started to smile. "Okay—do that. I promise I won’t tell. What’d ya do, anyways?” he asked on second thought.

    he pushes past crutchie, no doubtedly almost knocking      him over. hopefully didn't, but albert couldn't just let specs      catch him! he listens carefully as specs rolls up, unaware       of where the teenage child is hiding. the newsie bites his      lip in order to suppress a laugh. only when he feels that it      is completely safe, he jumps out, leaping over the stack of      crate with ease.

                              “then, i guess…                                             just albert.”

      she was smiling just as boldly, and, frankly,       it was absolutely infectious. she shrugged, a       slight optimism in the action, where doubt       often reigned supreme.

            ”you really know how to brighten a day, cara.”
