“Look I am here already. You don’t need to waste your money.” Cody picked the phone up and quickly tried to match Apple’s pace. The alcohol slowed her down enough for Cody to catch up.

He held out her phone hopeful that he had worn her down enough to cave in. “Bad luck is a bit dramatic, don’t you think? I’m trying to help. I swear I have no ulterior motives. Plus you can barely walk and your house is more than a few miles away. I’ll follow you the entire way if you won’t accept a ride.”

Apple let out a sigh, she was wearing heels there was no way in hell she would make it very far so she knew she should just accept Cody’s help but being in his presence always crossed between strangling him or kissing him. “Fine, but don’t talk to me,” she said snatching her phone out of his hands. Apple begrudgingly followed him to his car.

“I beg to differ Apple.” Drunk levels had to be fairly high for the bartender to get involved. Although Cody hesitated to show up he ultimately wanted to make sure Apple was safe. 

“I’m taking you home that is it. Come on, before you get us into trouble.” He cared for her now more than ever which he realized was stupid since they had been together for two years. Cody was always too late to own up to his feelings.

Apple dug into her purse and pulled out her phone, making a big show out of it. “I’ll call an uber- or a lift!” She said waving the phone in the air it slipped out of her hand smashed on to the ground. “God damn it! You’re bad luck!” She dropped to the floor struggling to pick the thing up. She closed her eyes and sighed, she was not going to ask for help. She’d leave the damn thing there and just start walking. She stormed past the male, mindfully making sure each step wouldn’t make her land on the ground.

Although her body was screaming at her to take the help, Bella couldn’t help but feel so selfish for making a huge scene in such a public place, her shaking hands trying to reach out for Apple – the only friend she felt she had at the moment in a world suffocating her with people she rarely knew “Water — please?”

“Shit shit shit shit,” the elder Smanderson cursed to herself before picking up her body and moving herself around the corner, crouching down enough to just rest her elbows on her knees before taking in a deep breath. “I can’t — fuck,” she cursed a little louder, praying on one else was around.

“Shit. You definitely earned yourself a drink.” Kevin breathed. He wondered if hugging Apple would be something that would get him punched, and decided against it. “Pretty good. I only got sworn at by drunk people twice today.”

“Thank you,” she said pouring herself another glass. She watched him start to get close to her as if he was going to initiate a hug. The damn boy was a teddy bear, he seemed to decide against though which Apple was thankful for. She didn’t want affection, she wanted to be drunk. “God- I don’t know how you do your job.”
