“Oh yeah, I need him dead, too.” What Julian did to Michael and the pain he still felt on his once-pinned wings reminded him just how much he wanted to tear the Dyad apart. All the pain he had inflicted, he would return them tenfold. He would avenge all his brothers and sisters who died in Julian’s hands.

Gabriel looked up at Death with a cruel smile. “Don’t worry, I will help you. Surely I won’t leave all the fun to you.”

         ‘ i get an odd feeling that you UNDERESTIMATE me. ‘ vibrant eyes scan the much taller being. a brow arches perfectly while her crimson! lips curled into a smirk filled with mischief. 

                                ‘ such a shame, ‘innit ?? that you AREN’T as WISE as they say.  ‘

“Much as I loathe to admit it, he was the one who had captured Michael and I in New Delphi. His name is Julian and he’s a Dyad. You know what those are—half-human, half-angel,” Gabriel didn’t hide his sneer. “Julian was a higher angel called Lyre but my brother cast him out and obviously it didn’t go well. He may have the means and will to use those souls you’re missing.”

And the archangel loathed it even more that he didn’t manage to kill the dreaded Dyad in his siege of New Delphi. Somehow, by what means he had no idea, Julian escaped. It left a terrible taste in his mouth.

A fingertip drew across his lip as he looked back out to the crumbled city. If this Julian caught both Michael and Gabriel at the same instance, he was certainly a force to be reckoned with. He almost felt bad for the angels, for their suffering. He had picked up more souls of angels as well these past few years because of this war. He was apt to remind Gabriel that he was created before him and was the eldest among creatures in this land but he didn’t feel like a pissing match was necessary right now. What was necessary was that they find the man stealing these souls and kill him.  “I need him dead.” He would put up allegiance with either Gabriel or Michael but he did need the man gone. His gaze turned upon the warrior of once Heaven.

“Didn’t Father bless you with free will?” The question was both rhetorical and useless as Gabriel knew it would only serve to rile the Horseman more. What was the phrase—dancing with Death? Where would an archangel go when they’re dead?

Then the sheer number of the unaccounted souls sobered him up a notch. The two of them are aware of what an angel is capable of doing with a human soul, much less two hundred and forty-three of them.

“I didn’t take them. Neither did my brother or my army of higher angels—      On second thought… I have an idea who might.”

“Well, of course my brother said the same.” Gabriel would know firsthand if anything had happened to his twin—or if the other one had all of a sudden grow stronger. Their connection may waver and thin at times, but they were never truly gone. He would know.

“The one against all of humanity?” The quirk of his lips gave away a mocking grin. “Death’s lost seven souls, should we help him?” Gabriel sighed. “Without Father… where are you taking them to?” Is there a point to all of this any longer?
