I got this because of parallel parking, probably.

Got some Zoh Shia dandruff in my last line, now my sinuses are giving me Omens. One whiff of wyvernsprout and I swear to Gog I’m licking my lips with Chatacabra-esque decadency. I don’t feel a damn thing. ODed on adamant pills once, they had to use a dragonator to get the Narcan past my epidermis. Saw a pair of Wud-Wuds stewing congalala shit in a sacrifical alter dating back to the birth of the sapphire star and hitting the gas like whippets on my way camp last Tuesday, and I will be one lying son-of-a-bulaqchi if I said I didn’t envy them. This shit ain’t nothing to me hunter.

ntm the way people still misinterpret why he relates to arkveld (which, granted the writing isn't always the cleanest but like -) and seem to completely miss the entire point of the keepers-guardians parallel

i know there are differing opinions on the guardians/constructs as a concept, but within the story of wilds, the guardians are introduced as creatures who are duty-bound, and unable to enjoy life to its fullest because they lack even the will to eat - and don't even know that such things are inherent to the experience of "being alive"

this is a pretty direct reflection of the keepers: duty-bound people who don't seek the outside world, living in their isolated village without even considering venturing outside of it - they even canonically try to mimic the appearance of guardian cocoons and we all joke about how bland the sild dish is because these people don't even know what cheese is and have never seen a spice in their lives

this is why nata is so angry when he learns of the concept of guardians, the fact that they don't even eat, that they're essentially locked into programmed behavior - they're alive but they don't live, and that's why he relates to arkveld, who left the confines of wyveria and learned to live ("this is the first thing it ever decided for itself" etc)

to nata, arkveld pretty blatantly parallels his own experience of leaving the forbidden lands -- obviously, arkveld still winds up a case of endangering the ecosystem due to the way it attempted to integrate itself, but this development functions as the other side of the coin to nata's development: where one was exposed to the rest of the world and would eventually strive to learn how to be a part of it and not apart from it (nata), the other would take its newfound freedom and fall into destructive behavior (arkveld)

obviously if you've been playing MH for a long time, you already understand that the guild has always existed to preserve the ecosystem, but nata as a character isn't meant to go against this - his development actually supports the guild's longstanding stance as he comes to learn why it was necessary to stop arkveld . so it does get really tiring to hear people say that they "hate him because he doesn't want me to hunt the flagship monster" when that's literally a character point that the main story actively works to resolve
