You were weak. Too weak to work, too weak to fight, too weak to really do anything other than walk around at night. So, you 'moved' out. (Got evicted)

You wandered around, trying to find somewhere that was free, which was impossible, until you went into the forest.

The trees added nice cover from the sun, the area was beautiful, and there was an 'abandoned' cabin! It was perfect!

You checked inside, most areas were dusty and had old maps and tropheys. You guessed that no one had lived there for about 10 years or so. There was no one inside and no clothing or any sign of life.

It was all yours!

Rumors of a vampire hunter coming to town scared you. You only went outside to the village to sometimes chat with the other people, but they'd notice your pale skin, never aging face, and sluggish movement.

You were just too lonely to really care too much about that, but the news of the vampire hunter made you carefully start jogging back to your cabin, trying not to draw attention.

You began sprinting once you hit the forest, it drained the last of your energy and you collapased into the house, falling straight on your stomach, knocking the wind out of you. You gasp and just lay on the floor, exaugsted.

"Yeah, there's something wrong with the cabin." A gruff voice said in your room. You freeze. "There's barely any dust, the bed in the guest room is used, there's unknown clothing- Yes, I know squatters exist!"

While they're distracted, you try to pull yourself up but slip on the now smooth counters (he must've wiped them recently) and you fall on the floor.

Then your face to face with a cross bow.

Huh. You thought you'd die at home surrounded by loved ones...

Hunter had killed thousands upon thousands of vampires, so many that most didn't believe they exist! He was a legend at his craft and many sought him out for it.

He used to live in his cabin with his girlfriend until she unfortunately passed away. Hunter threw himself into his craft and felt nothing for anyone anymore. His true love would always be his girlfriend and the life they could've had.

So, why couldn't he kill you?

You couldn't even stand up to defend yourself! He looked at you, your eyes were watery and your eyes were sunken, you were so skinny he was pretty sure he could snap you in half like a glow stick.

You were young too, vampires may never age, but you were clearly new to being a vampire! Your eyes were still a natural color, it was the only way he could ever find out how old a vampire was.

"How old are you, kid?" He found himself saying. It surprised him, and it surprised you too. "N-Nineteen... Sir?" You didn't mean for it to sound questioning, you were just confused.

"What's your name?" Why was his voice so cold?

"Y/N... Sir?" Why was your voice so wrong?

"I'm Hunter." He cursed himself, why did he tell you his name?

That's when it clicked in his brain why he couldn't kill you. You were a child that clearly didn't have what they needed.

Hunter found himself thinking back to his girlfriend, how she always talked about having kids, they even prepared a room for them-

Wait. Was it you who had been sleeping here? Who had slept in the kid's room? Hunter believed that maybe this was a sign that his girlfriend wanted you to be the child they never had.

He owed her this much.

Why weren't you dead yet? This guy was clearly the seasoned expert you heard all about, you just broke into his cabin and he also knows about you sleeping here!

You close your eyes and prepare for the wooden stake to the heart when you hear something slide across the floor and your engluffed into arms.

You open your eyes to realize the expert was... Hugging you? He was using one hand to hold your head in his massive hand, whispering nonsense to you.

Even though you were scared out of your mind, you hadn't been sleeping well due to the hunger and blood thirst, and the whispering calmed your shot nerves.

"Wha...?" You mumble, leaning into the hug subconsciously.

"Welcome home, Y/N."

When you wake up, you feel amazing. Full of life! You hadn't felt like this since you were human! You leaned back and sighed in contentment.

Then you realized what happened before you passed out.

Your eyes snap open and you're about to jump out of the nearest window, when you notice an IV in your arm. Is that blood? Is your blood being taken?

No, you were getting blood.

Why?

You scramble to remove it, but a hand is quickly to stop you. You look at it's owner in horror. Hunter towers over you, looking down at you warmly. "Good morning to you, too."

You look outside, it was morning. He walks over and closes the curtain. "Are you a life-or-death vampire to the sun or just sunburns?"

"Sunburns." You reply absantmindly. But he didn't care too much, he wasn't letting you near the sun either way. "Why are you... Doing all this?" You ask, curious and scared. Is he going to feed you to some... Wolves or something?!

"Oh, sweetie, don't look so scared." He murmured, playing with your hair. "You'll be my child here, safe." He wouldn't let you get sick or hurt like her.

"W-What?!"

"Isn't it better? You already found your room." He explained casually like it was just elevator talk.

You're about to go into a panic attack when his hands rub your back and arms soothingly. "Sh... Breathe in... And out... It's all okay, you won't get hurt."

After a few minutes of the breathing excerise, you calm down enough (Just barely enough) to look at him without freaking out. "Get some more rest, kiddo." He tells you, lightly pushing you down into the bed. "You'll decorate your room tomorrow, we'll go shopping..." He starts listing things to do together, your mind foggy, you fall asleep with his soothing voice helping you.

He smiles at you, already asleep, and ruffles your hair. You really were the perfect child.
