“never kill yourself” is such a funny phrase to me that i think it’s accidently started working. its like an affrimation. say ‘never kill yourself’ enough times as a joke and maybe you won’t try to kill yourself over minor inconviences anymore

Why is it always about Orpheus turning back foolishly and never about Eurydice following him out of the Underworld, likely knowing she was doomed. That Orpheus went all this way, singing the story of their love, hopeful that he will return her to the surface and finally build their life together— but they will not. She knows her Orpheus will turn back. And yet she still follows him, all the way to the top, because the simple pleasure of seeing his back again is enough for her. Isn’t that a foolish thing to do for love?

a lot of people have been talking about jack wolfe playing orpheus as if he knows that this has all happened again and again. and I just keep thinking about how terrible of a torment it is to look at your lover and know that again and again your love will be the thing that fails her. but everytime you look at her and see her again you try again for the small hope that maybe this time, you'll resist the urge to turn around. and everytime you fail. because you love her.
